MEMORANDUM
DATE: April 22, 1982
• TO: Dave Childs , City Manager ,
Department Heads
Ron Berg, Administrative Assistant
FROM: Connie Kroeplin, Secretary.
SUBJECT: Notes on April 21 , 1982 Staff Meeting
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
The meeting opened at 9:05 A.M. Present: Ron Berg, Dave Childs, Larry Hamer,
Don Nickerson, Ray Nelson, Lee Entner, and Connie Kroeplin. Absent: Carol Johnson.
Mr. Childs stated a City resident, Bernard Preussner, will be present at the
Council 's April 27th meeting. Mr. Preussner lives on Skycrof.t Drive and would like
to speak to the Council regarding the parking of vehicles on the street in front of
his home.
Mr. Childs will also present the 2nd reading on the ordinance relating to a water
rate increase. He also noted that the Council tabled Sroga's license at their
April 13th meeting because of complaints by neighbors. All concerned parties have
been invited to attend Council 's April 27th meeting.
There was discussion on the formation of a skating rink committee. The purpose
of this committee would be to seek solutions regarding the City's three skating
• rinks and the high cost of operation. Some suggestions for committee members
were Ron Hanson (a former Booster) ; Larry Hamer (Public Works Director) ; Tom
McMullen (Assistant District #282 Superintendent) ; a. Councilman; and another
City resident. Mr. Childs requested a final recommendation from this committee by
August.
Mr. Hamer will be requesting two change orders for repairs on Well #4 at the Council 's
April 27th meeting. He said if the Council approves the 2 change orders, the money
spent would be saved in two 5 year periods, as the requested stainless steel would
not corrode nearly as quickly as steel..
Ray Nelson discussed installing a wide-screen for viewing movies, sporting events,
etc. at the Stonehouse. Consensus was this idea is a good one and discussion ensued
on a VCR versus H.B.O. type systems. Mr. Nelson indicated he would have a chalk board
where he would list what was to be shown, so the patrons would be aware of what they
could watch. Mr. Childs requested Mr. Nelson to gather cost data on these type of
systems.
Mr. Berg briefly discussed the items which were on the Planning Commission 's agenda
the previous night. They were:
(1) Craig Morris ' letter of credit could have to be called in and the City would
have to erect a chain link fence on the property if Mr. Morris does not comply.
(2) The Senior Federation's three variances were recommended for approval .
• (3) The fence ordinance was approved with some recommended changes.
