-4- <br /> As he introduced the new firefighter, Don Drusch, to the Council, <br /> Chief Entner told them how Mr. Drusch ' s expertise as a paramedic has <br /> already proved a benefit to the department and invited the Council and <br /> • their families to join the other City employees in CPR training <br /> sessions which have now been set up. A new Resusci-Annie is being <br /> donated for these classes by the St. Anthony Kiwanis Club, according <br /> to Mayor Sundland. <br /> There was Council agreement with Mr. Child ' s conclusions that the <br /> City is not prepared to participate in the demonstration of curbside <br /> collection of recyclable materials at this time , especially since <br /> resident participation in the City ' s own recycling program has been <br /> minimal and paper products are effectively recycled through the various <br /> paper drives conducted in the City . <br /> Motion by Councilman Marks and seconded by Councilman Letourneau to <br /> plan for provision of a fire hydrant mid-block on Silver Lake Road <br /> between Silver Lane and 39th Avenue N.E. , as recommended by the Public <br /> Works Director in his April 13 , 1982 memorandum. <br /> Motion carried unanimously . <br /> The Manager reported that, when the City siren malfunctioned during <br /> the first test this season, it was determined a new motor would be <br /> needed and estimated the cost of repairs will probably run about <br /> $2 ,000 . He then reiterated his recommendation that the 1982 City <br /> budget be modified to reflect the $23 , 000 cut he anticipates will be <br /> necessary , based on current revenue projections , to balance the budget <br /> • and added that a public hearing is required to approve the necessary <br /> Revenue Sharing funds transfer. <br /> Motion by Councilman Enrooth and seconded by Councilman Letourneau <br /> to schedule a public hearing on the proposed Revenue Sharing budget <br /> amendment for 7 : 45 P.M. , May 11, 1982 . <br /> Motion carried unanimously . <br /> Referring to Mr. Hamer' s report that it costs the City $38 , 470 . 69 to <br /> maintain its skating rinks , as well as the Public Works Director's <br /> suggestions for cutting back on these expenses in the face of declining <br /> use of the rinks the past few years , Mr. Childs recommended a committee <br /> be formed to study the future ice skating needs and services for the <br /> City. The Mayor suggested Ron Hanson, who had indicated an interest <br /> in the future of hockey programs in the City , . should be contacted <br /> regarding membership on the committee. <br /> Motion by Councilman Marks and seconded by Councilman Ranallo to <br /> authorize the establishment of a five person committee to be selected <br /> by the Manager to determine future allocation of resources for ice <br /> skating within the context of budget cuts for all City programs . <br /> Motion carried unanimously. <br /> • Motion by Councilman Ranallo and seconded by Councilman Marks to <br /> schedule the acceptance of proposals on the City ' s insurance program <br /> for 10 : 00 A.M. , Monday , May 10 , 1982 in the City Manager's office. <br /> Motion carried unanimously. <br />
