TO: Donald Hickerson - 2 - May 25 , 1982
On ;April 29th, 1982 , - two (2) Search -Warrants were executed.
• (See attached newspaper article from the Saturday, May 1st,
Star and Tribune. )
Special commendation should go to Sgt. Puffer and Officer Fer-
guson for their arrest of an adult forger at Dahl Pharmacy on
April 13, 1982 . They handled the situation in a highly pro-
fessional manner from the time they received the call to the
time the apprehension was made. Their efforts made it a quick
and easy case to investigate and to obtain a complaint for
three ( 3) counts of forgery in Ramsey County.
Sgt. Puffer, Sgt. Protelsch and Officer Ferguson should be com-
mended for the work on April 22 , 1952 , at Apache Plaza invol-
ving an elaborate scheme devised by two (2) adults arrested for
felony theft by Sgt. Puffer and Sgt. Protelsch. This case in-
volved six ( 6) business places at Apache Plaza and several
others in the metro area. Sgts. Puffer and Protelsch recovered
over $6, 000. 00 in stolen property and broke up a scheme that
had just begun, that could have resulted in the loss of in ex-
cess of $300 , 000. 00 to metro merchants.
The arrest of the two (2) adults began a tedious and. complex
investigation that resulted in additional recovery of stolen
property through six (6) search warrants being executed in
various parts of the metro area.
Officer Ferguson, while not involved in the initial arrest,
played an important part in my investigation that went through
most of the night of April 22nd and into the morning hours of
the 23rd. Officer Ferguson gave more than six (6) hours- of his
own time to aid me on a check of various mini storage ar6as
used by the parties involved in Burnsville, Plymouth and Vadnai.s
Heights.
April was a highly productive month, not so much in volume as in
types of cases cleared and property recovered: The burglary
rate should show a decline for May and June with only one (1)
major group known to be still active in our area.
RE :cz
Enc.
