He was <br /> 5 advised that Councilmembers Marks and Makowske will be attending. <br /> 6 <br /> 7 Mayor Pro-tem Ranallo advised that the Village Fest Committee had met <br /> 8 on January 8th and selected officers and appointed a Board of Directors. <br /> 9 The officers are as follows: President, Tom Thorson, Vice President, <br /> 10 Scott Swanson, Secretary, Dorothy Fleming, and Treasurer, Dennis Cavanaugh. <br /> 11 The Board of Directors is comprised of Dorothy Thorson, Barb Olsonoski <br /> 12 and Clarence Ranallo. <br /> 13 <br /> 14 The next Village Fest Committee is scheduled for January 22nd where budget <br /> 15 preparations will begin. <br /> 16 <br /> 17 <br /> 18 C. Hance b LeVahn, Ltd. : Two reports were received from this firm which <br /> 21 addressed various matters conducted at the Hennepin County District <br /> 22 Court up to and including December 20, 1989• Councilmember Marks <br /> • �3 remarked on the high blood alcohol problems appearing again. <br /> 24 <br /> �5 2. Liquor Operations Sale Summaries - November and December, 1989: There <br /> 26 were no comments regarding this report. <br /> 27 <br /> 28 3. City-Manager Report <br /> 34 Mayor Pro-tem Ranallo thanked the City Manager for the reports from the <br /> 35 Department Heads and the City Manager. <br /> 36 <br /> 37 1 . Response to Residents' Questions on the 1990 Budget: In a written memo, <br /> 38 the City Manager compared the per capita spending in the City of St. <br /> 39 Anthony to seven other municipalities similar to the City. He noted <br /> 40 that St. Anthony is average or on the low side for the northeast suburbs. <br /> 41 He noted that over the last five years the market value for properties <br /> 42 <br /> 43 has increased 10.9% in the City. This is below the metropolitan average <br /> 44 of 21 . 1% because the City is fully developed with only redevelopment <br /> 45 opportunities available. He continued in his memo that using statistics <br /> 46 is not a true representation of how the City compares to the surrounding „- <br /> 47 communities. He feels the true comparison is in the quality of services. <br /> 48 The City Manager feels there is a genuine satisfaction with services <br /> 49 . among the City' s residents which generates continued community pride. _ <br /> • <br /> 50 <br />
