Council Meeting <br /> January 9, 1990 <br /> page 6 • <br /> 1 Construction employees. The City Council felt this action indicated <br /> 2 the company's good faith and noted that these variances will not cause <br /> 3 any problem with the project. <br /> 4 <br /> 5 Motion by Ranallo, second by Marks to grant a variance to Nedegaard <br /> 6 Construction for Evergreen Townhomes, 3414 and 3416 Silver Lane, <br /> 7 for a four foot variance for Lot Number 2 and an eight foot variance <br /> 8 for Lot Number 3; finding that the conditions for the variance were <br /> 9 satisfactorily met and that no one spoke against the request. <br /> 10 <br /> 11 Motion carried unanimously <br /> 12 <br /> 13 <br /> 14 B. Council Reports <br /> 15 <br /> 16 Councilmember Marks advised that he will be attending the Planning and <br /> 17 Zoning .Institute sponsored by the Government Training Service in Duluth. <br /> 18 He also indicated he had received a phone call from a resident who <br /> 19 praised the recently retired Police Chief and recommended that this position <br /> 20 be filled by a promotion from within the Department. <br /> 21 <br /> -22 Councilmember Enrooth had nothing to report. • <br /> _ 23 <br /> 24 Councilmember Makowske attended the Ramsey County League of-Local --- <br /> 25 Government Annual Meeting and distributed material she received at the <br /> 26 meeting. She will be attending the , Northwest Suburban Youth Service <br /> 27 Bureau' s Board of Directors Meeting which will be held at Wilder Forest. <br /> 28 Councilmember Makowske will also be meeting with the Bureau's Director, <br /> 29 Kay Anderson, to discuss her duties to serve on the Board of Directors. <br /> 30 The City of St. Anthony had previously been represented on the Board <br /> 31 by Councilmember Marks. <br /> 32 <br /> 33 Recently, Councilmember Makowske had received a booklet from the Historical . <br /> 34 Society which appeared to be a project of the Junior Red Cross. The booklet <br /> 35 bore the date of July 1945. She noted that the handwriting in the booklet <br /> 36 appeared to be in German. A resident in the audience, Bernhard Preussner, . <br /> 37 requested to look at the booklet as he could read German. He reported later <br /> 38 in the Council meeting that this booklet appeared to be part of a project <br /> 39 between a school student in St. Anthony School District #2 and a German <br /> 40 school student enrolled in the Knoden Prep School in Oldenwald , Germany. <br /> 41 <br /> 42 Mayor Pro-tem Ranallo indicated he plans on attending the Long Range Planning <br /> 43 Committee Meeting on January 3.Oth and 31st. <br /> 44 <br /> 45 Mayor Pro-.tem Ranallo has received numerous calls. regarding rubbish removal 46 and recycling. He felt 6ek-:°residents need these two issues clarified. <br /> Sue <br /> ; .47 VanderHeyden, Assistant to the City Manager, advised there will be an <br /> 48 article in the upcoming newsletter about the issue of recycling and rubbish • <br /> 49 removal .
