• 400 . 07 Responsibility for Repairs and Maintenance . The owner <br /> of property having a building connected to the public sewer <br /> system is responsible for all repairs and maintenance of that <br /> portion of the sewer system which runs from the building to its <br /> connection with a common sewer line, including the connection <br /> to said line. <br /> 400 . 08 Construction Requirements . All connections with the <br /> public sewer must be made with cast iron pipe having an <br /> internal diameter of 4 inches . No sewer pipe connecting with <br /> any public sewer may have a fall of less than one-quarter inch <br /> to the foot . All pipe must be inspected and subject to <br /> approval by the plumbing inspector before the same is laid. <br /> After any connection has been laid from a public sewer to the <br /> street line, the pipe may not be covered until it has been duly <br /> inspected by the plumbing inspector and approved . The <br /> requirements of Section 400 . 17 regulating excavations in public <br /> streets are to be strictly complied with in excavations for <br /> sewers . <br /> 400 . 09 Separate Connections . Every building shall separately <br /> and independently connect with the public sewer, and in no <br /> instance, with the exception of a single dwelling house, shall <br /> an area greater than 25 feet frontage be drained through one <br /> connection. <br /> • 400 . 10 Obstruction Prohibited . No refuse or solids of any <br /> sort obstructive to the flow of waste water may be placed, <br /> thrown or allowed to enter any public sewer, or allowed to <br /> remain in or on any trap or catch basin so as to obstruct the <br /> sewer . No person may injure or break or remove any portion of <br /> any catch basin, covering flag , gull grating, flush tank or <br /> manhole, or any part of any sewer, nor do any act obstructing <br /> or in any way interfering with the use of any sewer or the flow <br /> of waste water through any sewer . <br /> 400 . 11 Storm Drains . No property owner or occupant shall <br /> cause or permit a storm drain, rain spout or any other form of <br /> drainage or surface drainage to be connected with or to enter <br /> any public sanitary sewer . <br /> 400 . 12 Grease . A grease trap and grated slop basin must be <br /> constructed under the sink of every laundry, restaurant or <br /> other public cooking establishment . <br /> 400 . 13 Prohibited Waste . No person shall cause or permit any <br /> of the following items to enter the public sewer systems : <br /> (a) Hazardous waste, hazardous chemicals, flammable or <br /> explosive materials , radioactive substances and toxic <br /> 4-2 <br />
