Regular Council Meeting <br /> May 14, 1991 <br /> page 9 <br /> St. Anthony. Included in a letter from the City to the athletes is <br /> 2 a video of the City ' s Village Fest . <br /> Mayor Ranallo mentioned he will be hosting a family for. ten days who <br /> will be participating in the Special Olympics. He explained the re- <br /> 5 quirements for hosting a family or athletes. <br /> 7 The Mayor will be meeting with representatives of Apache Merchants <br /> P Association and of the St. Anthony Merchants Association to discuss <br /> 9 a "Shop St. Anthony" campaign. Councilmember Wagner advised that <br /> 10 Anderson Furniture, presently located on 37th Avenue, will be moving <br /> 11 into space at Apache Plaza. <br /> 12 <br /> 13 The Ramsey County League of Local Government will be holding a meeting <br /> i4 on May 15th to discuss drugs . <br /> 15 <br /> 16 A joint meeting of the City Council and the School Board was held <br /> )7 on May 13th where revenue sources and their distribution were the <br /> 18 topics for discussion. The next joint meeting of these two bodies <br /> 19 will be June 24th at City Hall . Issues regarding distribution <br /> 20 similarities between the City Council and the School Board will be <br /> 21 discussed. <br /> 22 <br /> 23 C. City Manager's Report <br /> 24 <br /> 25 1 . Recycling Center <br /> 26 More yard waste, tires , and junk is being brought to the Recycling <br /> 27 Center. Black dirt is being removed. The City Manager this is a <br /> 78 frustrating situation and also there are safety concerns as the area <br /> 29 is becoming an "attractive nuisance" for children. <br /> 30 <br /> 31 It was recommended that the matter of the location of the Recycling <br /> 32 Center be directed back to the Recycling Task Force. <br /> 33 <br /> 34 The City Manager advised that an ordinance must be in place by July <br /> 35 1 , 1991 , which addressed individual household/family recycling. This <br /> 36 is a Hennepin County regulation. <br /> 37 <br /> 38 Mayor Ranallo received a letter from a resident who felt the Recycling <br /> 39 Center is being used as a dumping grounds. The writer also felt <br /> if 0 garage sale signs should be allowed to be placed on property owners ' <br /> 41 front yards. <br /> 42 <br /> 43 2. Pavement Management Study <br /> 44 The City Manager has evaluated three firms to conduct the Pavement <br /> br, Study. He noted that they all were fairly close in costs. He is <br /> 46 recommending Braun Intertec Pavement of St. Paul . $80,000 has been <br /> 47 placed in the Public Works ' budget for road replacement . It more <br /> 48 funds are needed , they can be designated . <br /> 49 <br /> 50 Motion by Marks, second by Enrooth to authorize accepting the services <br />
