•
3524 Harding Street, N.E.
St. Anthony, MN 55418
September 20, 1993
To Whom It May Concern:
We wish to have you hear our opinion on the variance requested
for 3515 Harding . However, we will be out of town on the night
of the meeting. We request you read this letter as part of the
neighbors ' input. We are supplying Mr. Dick with a copy, also.
City code laws are made to provide for the good of the greatest
number of residents of St. Anthony. Giving a variance to a code
should be done only when necessary to prevent closing of a business
or to prevent severe hardship on a citizen. Neither of these is
true in this request.
There is no hardship on the person requesting this variance if it
is denied and the 5 foot code is enforced.
But there certainly is a hardship to the Dick family if the vari-
ance is allowed and the garage is moved to 3 feet from the Dick
property. Dicks are long-time residents of this block and have
done an outstanding job maintaining their property to help make
the 3500 block attractive.
The newcomer requesting the variance has done little .- to improve
the appearance of his property and the driveway has been an eye-
sore for the neighbors . In addition, the garage has not been.
maintained and is probably not in a condition to be moved.
Certainly long-time residents , as the Dicks are, deserve consider-
ation over a new resident wanting a variance that will be a dis-
tinct detraction to the well-maintained Dick property.
Sincerely,
