Report of Councilmember Waaner <br /> 10 Councilmember Wagner attended the Youth Luncheon at <br /> 11 Nativity Church. There were forty-five people in <br /> 12 attendance . He felt the speakers were excellent and the <br /> 13 roundtable discussions were very good. The focus of the <br /> 14 topic was to evaluate what can be done and what needs to <br /> 15 be done for youth. <br /> 16 <br /> 17 Councilmember Wagner also attended a meeting where the <br /> 18 future of the Community Center was the topic for <br /> 19 discussion . Community Services and the School Board <br /> 20 representative were requested to obtain figures for their <br /> 21 needs . He will get figures from the City and from the <br /> 22 Police Department . <br /> 23 •24 It was noted that the City of New Brighton is planning a <br /> 25 much larger building than is being considered for St . <br /> 26 Anthony. Nearly 77, 000 square feet have been rented and <br /> 27 the costs will be about four million dollars . This <br /> 28 building is shared by the City and the School Board who <br /> 29 share a contract for it . <br /> 30 <br /> 31 Mayor Ranallo felt the St . Anthony building should be a <br /> 32 "no frills" facility. <br /> 33 <br /> 34 <br /> 35 2 . Report of Councilmember Flemina <br /> 36 <br /> 37 Councilmember Fleming also attended the Community <br /> 38 Services Meeting which focused on youth. She felt that <br /> 39 Peter Benson from the Search Institute made a very good <br /> 40 presentation and it was two hours well spent . <br /> 41 <br /> 42 Councilmember Fleming attended the Association of <br /> 43 Metropolitan Municipalities. She also met with Jim <br /> 44 Brimeyer of the Brimeyer Group whose services have been <br /> 45 employed to conduct the City Manager search. <br /> 46 <br /> 47 Councilmember Fleming felt the turnout at the school <br /> 48 meeting at Wilshire School was very good. There will be • <br /> 49 a referendum for the $4 . 7 needed by the School District . <br /> 50 <br />
