MEMORANDUM <br /> DATE: August 11, 1994 <br /> TO: Mayor and Councilmembers <br /> FROM: Michael Morrison, City Manager <br /> ITEM: SECURITY ALARM ORDINANCE <br /> The following changes were made to the ordinance relating to security alarms: <br /> 1. Reference to owner installed alarms was deleted in the definitions section <br /> of the ordinance. <br /> 2. Fees for false alarms were changed so that when this ordinance comes <br /> into effect there will be no charges for the first two false alarms. The <br /> third false alarm within a 12 month period will bring a charge of$75. <br /> Charges for false alarms thereafter will increase by $25 per response. <br /> Comparatively, the change in fees will be as follows: <br /> First false alarm response - free; second false alarm response -- <br /> free; third false alarm response -- free; fourth -- $50; fifth -- $50, <br /> and so forth. <br /> Proposed change in fees: <br /> First false alarm response -- free; second false alarm response -- <br /> free; third false alarm response -- $75; fourth -- $100; fifth -- <br /> $125, and so forth. <br /> 3. The license fee was decreased from $50 to $25 a year for businesses and <br /> from $25 to $10 a year for residential alarms. <br />
