S CHOOLS AND S EM=NARS During 1994 fire department personnel attended the following schools and seminars: 1 . Ten members attended EMT refresher classes. 2 . Two members received continuing education as paramedics. 3 . One member attended the state Fire Chiefs' Conference 4 . Five members attended the annual State Fire School . 5. One member attended a critical incident stress seminar. 6. Four members attended 5 EMS conferences. 7. One member attended Arson I , II, & III courses. 8 . Four members attended a strategy & tactics seminar. 9. Two members attended a HazMat operations course. 10. One member attended the State Fire Department Conference. 11. One member attended a building construction course. 12. One member attended Fire Administration basic & advanced courses. 13. One member attended a Fire Instructor I course. 14. One member attended a Fireground Control course. '31 ki-13 C'a'=OILS We have established three objectives for our inspection programs: 1. Educate the public in fire safety; 2. Improve familiarity with the community, its buildings, and their occupants; 3 . And eliminate hazardous situations. This program involves the annual inspection of every occupancy with the exception of one and two-family dwellings. The success of this program is evident in the very low incidence of non-residential fires over the years. During 1994 we inspected 52 occupancies through this program. In addition to our annual fire inspections, we also conduct day care and public school inspections under a contract with the State of Minnesota. During 1994 we conducted 8 such inspections. We also conduct inspections of new occupancies through the occupancy permit process. During 1994 we conducte 7 such Inspections. ]E'=RE DR]CLLS State law requires all schools and nursing homes to conduct fire and tornado drills on a regular basis. During 1994 we were involved in 15 such drills. 20
