PURL=C E DUCAT=ON
We continue to place a major emphasis on educating the public in
fire safety. Our success is evident in the fact that we host groups
from surrounding communities. We're also proud of the fact that
fire safety has become part of the curriculum . in both our
elementary schools and the home economics classes at the high
. school. During 1994 we provided fire safety education to 1269
citizens.
We began a safety camp program in 1994 through the Community
Services office. This safety camp was attended by 38 children of
grade school age. '
EMS
One of the priorities in our EMS system is the education of St.
Anthony's citizens in first aid and CPR. We provided this training
.primarily to youth groups, high school classes, senior citizens,
and employee groups in the City. During 1994, 179 people received
this training from us:
Another program we offer is free blood pressure checks. During 1994
we took 699 blood pressures for the citizens in this area. In
addition to helping people maintain blood pressure programs, we
also discover problems that might otherwise go undetected.
Because of the standards established in 1984, our roster currently
contains 2 paramedics, 16 EMT's, and 7 first responders.
2T
