DRAFT
June 10, 1997
Dear Residents:
Thank you for your attendance and participation at the Park Information meeting held on June 2,
1997. Since that meeting, the Council has discussed each of the concerns and issues that were
presented to us. The purpose of this letter is to inform you of some of the decisions that were
made at the June 9th Council meeting.
1. We have directed the City Manager to work with City staff to improve, some of the
maintenance concerns that were brought up at the June 2nd meeting, e:g., covers for the
trash cans, refurbish picnic tables, replace or remove the slide at Silver Point Park, etc.
You should start seeing some of those changes over the next few months. If you have
any suggestions, please let City Manager Mike Mornson.know about, them. He can be
reached at 789-8881.
2. We will be constructing the tennis courts this summer after the Parkview building is
demolished. Our goal is to get them back in operation by October 1, 1997.
3. We will be installing a fenced public play area by the north east side of the City Hall/
Community Center, as shown by BRW. This area is as large as we can go currently
without impacting the ability to realign the ball fields in the future. We will continue to
work with BRW in determining the size, placement, etc., of this play area. We anticipate
the size will be at least 4,500 square feet, but no more than 23,000 square feet, as shown
on Plan A-2 on June 2nd. We are looking at installing play equipment that is movable so
that we have the ability to move any or all of the equipment if the play area needs
relocated in the future. We are evaluating some of the pieces of play equipment that we
currently have to determine whether or not they are usable and can be installed with some
new pieces.
We will attempt to get this projecct completed by October 1, 1997 as well so Community
Services can use it for their children's programming. However, it is our intent to attempt-
to make it large enough and diverse enough-so that all age groups can use it.
•
