City Council Regular Meeting Minutes <br /> April 28, 1998 <br /> • Page 9 <br /> 1 Thuesen reported his attendance at the potluck dinner and the final concert held in conjunction <br /> 2 with the Salo, Finland Band visit. He expressed appreciation to everyone involved with the visit <br /> 3 and noted this event required a lot of organization and a lot of community involvement to make it <br /> 4 successful. <br /> 5 Thuesen reported he will not be able to attend the Volunteer Appreciation Event due to a prior. <br /> 6 family commitment. He stated volunteers are so important to the City and he appreciates the <br /> 7 work they do. <br /> 8 Faust reported his attendance at the Clean-up Day at Trillium Park on Saturday, April 25, 1998. <br /> 9 Members of the Kiwanis Club,the Builder's Club, and the Gardner's Club worked together to <br /> 10 plant trees and spruce up the area. This area is an entrance to the City and provides a first <br /> 11 impression. <br /> 12 Faust reminded that the City Clean-up Day is scheduled for Saturday, May 2, 1998 from 9:00 <br /> 13 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. <br /> 14 Faust presented literature with regard to a Juvenile Correction Program at Camp Ripley which <br /> 15 was approved by the Legislature last year,for children ages 11 - 14 years old. <br /> 06 Marks reported that the final Parks Task Force meeting was interesting and inspiring. It was a <br /> 17 culmination of ideas, enthusiasm and vision of the people gathered together. <br /> 18 Marks reported the Sister City visit was a success. He thanked the many people who helped. <br /> 19 Many friends were made and the final concert was exciting with Finlandia being played together <br /> 20 by the Salo Band and the St. Anthony Orchestra. The Salo Band performed at the High School <br /> 21 and Wilshire Park. <br /> 22 Mayor Ranallo noted that many people complimented the Public Works Department for their <br /> 23 work in setting up the various events. <br /> 24 Cavanaugh stated the Sister City event was fun. His family had four people and a host family at <br /> 25 his home. It was nice to learn about the history and also to meet the host family. <br /> 26 Cavanaugh reminded that the Volunteer Dinner will be held on Saturday,May 2, 1998 at 6:00 <br /> 27 p.m. Over 200 people will be in attendance at this event. <br /> 28 Cavanaugh stated he will not be able to attend the Council Work Session on Tuesday, May 5, <br /> 29 1998. <br /> 40 0 E. Mayor. <br /> 1 Mayor Ranallo suggested the great hall in the center of the Community Center/City Hall building <br /> 32 be given an official name. There was Council consensus to name this room the "Great Hall". <br />
