City Council Regular Meeting Minutes April 28, 1998 Page 10 • 1 Mayor Ranallo reported he had received an invitation to a meeting of the Silver Lake Association 2 to be held on May 11, 1998. As a number of Councilmembers may be attending, he suggested 3 this be posted as an' official meeting. 4 5 F. Ci1y Manager. 6 Morrison reported Management Assistant and the Public Works Director have been doing a lot of 7 organizing for the Clean-up Day to be held on Saturday and Faust will represent the Council at 8 the event. Six Kiwanis members will also be on hand to help. 9 Mornson-reported the Water Tower Study Report and the MSA sidewalk improvement plan will 10 be presented at the May 12, 1998, Council Meeting. Mark Fladden, Risk Manager for the City, 11 will also be in attendance at that meeting to review renewal of insurance. 12 Mayor Ranallo asked if the City would be receiving a dividend on their insurance this year. 13 Morrison stated the City is in a self-insurance pool through the League of Minnesota Cities with 14 other cities, for the liability portion of their insurance. Last year a refund of premium was given 15 based on the amount of injuries incurred. This year the City will also receive a dividend on the 16 worker's compensation policy. There will also be a reduction on the liquor portion of insurance 17 this year. 18 Morrison reported the School Board approved the additional funds for the new play equipment 19 for Community Services. 20 Mornson reported the survey questions have been placed in Councilmember's boxes. The 21 questions listed are basically the questions suggested by Council. The survey will begin in.June. 22 Morrison reported his attendance at a meeting with representatives of WSB and the DNR. It 23 appears that the City may receive $2.6 million in grant money rather than the original $2 million. 24 Apparently some of the other cities that had requested funds have,received funding from other 25 sources. WSB has been directed to develop a plan by which the City will spend $5.2 million(as 26 this is a matching grant). Options for the grant money include street improvements and park 27 improvements. 28 VIII. PUBLIC HEARINGS -None. 29 IX. NEW BUSINESS. 30 A. Resolution 98-041 re: The Purchase of Property Known as 2716 St. Anthony Boulevard. 31 Mayor Ranallo reported the City is in the process of purchasing this property. He noted he had 32 read a letter received from the Lockrems. Ranallo suggested that in addition to the $133,000 33 selling price, the City pay the closing costs of the transaction. •
