City Council Regular Meeting Minutes <br /> April 28, 1998 <br /> Page 10 • <br /> 1 Mayor Ranallo reported he had received an invitation to a meeting of the Silver Lake Association <br /> 2 to be held on May 11, 1998. As a number of Councilmembers may be attending, he suggested <br /> 3 this be posted as an' official meeting. <br /> 4 <br /> 5 F. Ci1y Manager. <br /> 6 Morrison reported Management Assistant and the Public Works Director have been doing a lot of <br /> 7 organizing for the Clean-up Day to be held on Saturday and Faust will represent the Council at <br /> 8 the event. Six Kiwanis members will also be on hand to help. <br /> 9 Mornson-reported the Water Tower Study Report and the MSA sidewalk improvement plan will <br /> 10 be presented at the May 12, 1998, Council Meeting. Mark Fladden, Risk Manager for the City, <br /> 11 will also be in attendance at that meeting to review renewal of insurance. <br /> 12 Mayor Ranallo asked if the City would be receiving a dividend on their insurance this year. <br /> 13 Morrison stated the City is in a self-insurance pool through the League of Minnesota Cities with <br /> 14 other cities, for the liability portion of their insurance. Last year a refund of premium was given <br /> 15 based on the amount of injuries incurred. This year the City will also receive a dividend on the <br /> 16 worker's compensation policy. There will also be a reduction on the liquor portion of insurance <br /> 17 this year. <br /> 18 Morrison reported the School Board approved the additional funds for the new play equipment <br /> 19 for Community Services. <br /> 20 Mornson reported the survey questions have been placed in Councilmember's boxes. The <br /> 21 questions listed are basically the questions suggested by Council. The survey will begin in.June. <br /> 22 Morrison reported his attendance at a meeting with representatives of WSB and the DNR. It <br /> 23 appears that the City may receive $2.6 million in grant money rather than the original $2 million. <br /> 24 Apparently some of the other cities that had requested funds have,received funding from other <br /> 25 sources. WSB has been directed to develop a plan by which the City will spend $5.2 million(as <br /> 26 this is a matching grant). Options for the grant money include street improvements and park <br /> 27 improvements. <br /> 28 VIII. PUBLIC HEARINGS -None. <br /> 29 IX. NEW BUSINESS. <br /> 30 A. Resolution 98-041 re: The Purchase of Property Known as 2716 St. Anthony Boulevard. <br /> 31 Mayor Ranallo reported the City is in the process of purchasing this property. He noted he had <br /> 32 read a letter received from the Lockrems. Ranallo suggested that in addition to the $133,000 <br /> 33 selling price, the City pay the closing costs of the transaction. • <br />
