Ms. Andra stated the engineers and architects are still debating that <br /> 3 issue and she had hoped they would be at meeting to discuss it with the Council. Mayor <br /> 4 Ranallo asked whether that information would be available'by the October 13 Council meeting. <br /> 5 Ms. Tmdra stated the Parks Commission is meeting October 8 and decisions will be made and <br /> 6 presented to the Council on October 13. <br /> 7 <br /> 8 Thuesen asked how much space is needed to accommodate an adult ballfield. Ms. Jmdra stated <br /> 9 300 feet is necessary for an adult.ballfield. <br /> 10 <br /> 11 Thuesen asked whether multi-generational play equipment had been discussed for Silver Point <br /> 12 Park. Ms. Tindra stated Silver Point Park.is designated for children 8 years old and younger, and <br /> 13 Watertower Park's focus will be multi-age. She added the Parks Commission has discussed the <br /> 14 possibility of converting the hockey arena to.a roller-blading space in the summer. <br /> 15 <br /> 16 Ms. Jmdra stated the Parks Commission hopes to satisfy all age groups by installing 4 adult <br /> 17 ballfields in Central Park and youth ballfields in the other two city parks. <br /> 18 <br /> 19 Mayor Ranallo stated he and Mr. Mornson met with Jan Weissner, Ramsey County <br /> 20 Commissioner; Greg Mark,.Director of Parks&Recreation;Warren Rolek, School District <br /> 21 Superintendent, regarding the possible sale of the Salvation Army camp. He added Ramsey <br /> 22 County might be able to provide financial assistance for its purchase if the City presents a viable <br /> 23 use for the camp. He stated the County feels the Salvation Army camp is backing away from such <br /> 24 a sale, but if renewed interest is shown, a Committee will be formed to include the School Board, <br /> 25 City Council,Parks Commission, and Ramsey County. <br /> 26 <br /> 27 Mayor Ranallo stated the County was dubious regarding available funding if the land is used <br /> 28 strictly for parks. He added if other uses are proposed, funds might be available. He stated <br /> 29 Metropolitan Council and State funds might also be available. <br /> 30 <br /> 31 Mayor Ranallo suggested the School Board participants thought the schools might use the area <br /> 32. for educational purposes. Marks stated the Sister City Committee had used the camp for various <br /> 33 functions. <br /> 34 B. Planning Commission- September 15, 1998. <br /> 35 Mayor Ranallo welcomed Mr. Bergstrom, Chair of the Planning Commission. Mr. Bergstrom <br /> 36 stated the Planning Commission has been working on planning activities, and he wished to present <br /> 37 some of their work. <br /> 38 1.
