Honorable Mayor, City Council, and Staff
City of St.Anthony •
July 30, 1999
Page 2
• Most residents indicated that the current quantity of parking along 29'Avenue with the
choking and reduction sections in the street is functioning just fine.
III. Sidewalk and Pedestrian Traffic
Residents offered the following comments regarding the installation of sidewalks:
• The majority of residents present felt that there was no need for sidewalk to be added to 29'h
Avenue.
• Concerns were raised regarding the number of pedestrians associated with the MTCO bus
stop at the corner of 29'Avenue and Silver Lake Road.
• Concerns were issued regarding a location for students to wait adjacent to 29th Avenue for
buses during the school year. Currently, students must wait on the street itself as opposed to
a sidewalk set away from the street.
• Residents issued privacy concerns related to pedestrian traffic on a sidewalk which would be
positioned closer to their homes than the existing roadway.
IV. Vehicle Speeds
The following comments were made by residents in regard to speeding on 29'Avenue:
• Enforcement of the stop sign at Crestview and 29'Avenue and the speed limit on 29'
Avenue needs to be improved by the City.
•
The City should consider additional stop signs in areas between Stinson Boulevard and
Silver Lake Road, i.e.,the intersections of Wilson and Roosevelt Streets.
• Residents are concerned that if the street section for 29'Avenue was widened or that the
chokers and reducers were removed, speeds on 29'h Avenue would increase.
V. Truck Traffic .
Residents offered the following comments in regard to trucks on 29'Avenue:
• A local towing service was identified by many residents with excessive speeds and stop sign
violations along 29'Avenue.
• Residents felt that additional stop signs should be considered on 29'Avenue so as to
discourage trucks from utilizing this street.
F:%WPWIM 1065.2 5\07)099-hmc.wpd
