MEMORANDUM 44 <br /> DATE: 4/18/2000 MEETING DATE: 5/9/2000 <br /> TO: Mayor and Council <br /> THROUGH: City Manager Mornson <br /> FROM: sistant City Manager Isom <br /> RE: Ordinance #2000-002, Adding Section 300.04(c) Authorizing the City <br /> Manager to Obtain Background/Criminal History Data About <br /> Finalist for City Positions <br /> The proposed ordinance will enable the City Manager to obtain criminal history data contained <br /> in the Minnesota Criminal Justice Information System of the finalists for City positions. It <br /> also enables the City Manager, upon obtaining an authorized consent form, to research <br /> criminal history data on a person.who has, may have, or seeks to have access to a child, under <br /> Minnesota Statutes 299C.61, and who is employed by, volunteers with, or seeks to be <br /> employed by or,volunteer with the City or with a children's service provider utilizing city <br /> parks, buildings, or facilities. <br /> The. fiscal impact of implementing/administering the services associated with this ordinance <br /> will originate from the General Fund - Police account. Funds are available. <br /> Staff Recommendation: Motion to approve Ordinance #2000-002. <br /> Consequently, the cities of Blaine and Fridley have passed similar ordinances. <br /> Cc: City Clerk Kroeplin <br /> Police Chief Engstrom <br /> • <br />
