42 Th B -ICS Challenges O State funding has not been keeping pace with the increasing costs of providing basic student programs and services over the past 10,years.State funding is frozen at last year's level for the next two years. O Budget adjustments to cover$1.3 million in funding shortfalls for the St.Anthony-New Brighton School District over the last four years have affected staffing and student programs. Needs Additional funding is needed to: O Maintain and improve computer technology to enhance educational opportunities for students and-support home/school communications. O Provide needed curriculum materials and support for students,including textbooks,library books and other learning materials. O Help maintain student programs and services. Proposal n O Question 1:A seven-year capital levy would raise$180,000 per year dedicated to technology improvements,for a total of$1.26 million in new revenues. O Question 2:A seven-year capital levy would raise$140,000 per year dedicated to curriculum materials and support,for a total of$980,000 in new revenues. O Question 3:A four-year operating levy would generate an estimated$225 per pupil unit in 2004, or$259,000 in new revenues to help operate our schools and maintain student programs.A new state. inflation factor could help maintain the buying power of the district's total operating levy revenues in years 2-4. Tax Increase For every$100,000 of valuation for residential homesteaded property(taxable market.value, not selling price): O Question 1 would increase school taxes by$27 per year,.or about 7¢ per day. O Question 2 would increase school taxes by$21 per year,or about 6¢ per day. O Question 3 would increase school taxes by$39 per year,or about 110 per day,with an inflation factor for years 2-4.
