City Council Regular Meeting Minutes 09 March 9, 2004 Page 9 1 2 Councilmember Stille stated it was a pleasure to meet with Senator Marty and Representative 3 Greiling, as they were not there to ask for anything but to act as ambassadors to thank them for: 4 the help given for flood mitigation. 5 6 Councilmember Thuesen indicated he respected the City's elected officials at the State level, as 7 there were many weeks where they had little chance to go to their homes. 8 9 Councilmember Faust requested the camera focus on the banner advertising the Bulldozer Bash. 10 He noted the"A" on the banner, indicating that "A"was one of the City's original logos. He 11 added there would be an auction for a few of those logos. He cited sponsors involved and 12 discussed some of the activities that would take place. He indicated further information could be 13 found at www.apacheplaza.com, which had been created by a resident named Jeff Anderson. 14 15 Mayor Hodson echoed Councilmember Faust's sentiment, stating the Bulldozer Bash would be 16 an exciting event put together by a tremendous team of volunteers from St. Anthony Village, 17 with the help of Mr. Pratt. He noted Congressman Sabo would make an attempt to attend and 18 added other government officials would be invited. He also praised the website as an"incredible 19 effort"created by a resident who had grown up near Apache Plaza. 20 21 Mayor Hodson indicated a couple of weeks earlier he read an article in the Sunday paper 22 regarding a St. Anthony Village teacher who was part of the Ididerod. He suggested residents go 23 online to follow the activities of the Ididerod and noted the teacher was an example of some of 24 the talent residing in St. Anthony Village. 25 26 Mayor Hodson stated he also attended the League of Minnesota Cities Conference, which was an 27 opportunity to learn"much interesting information" and a chance to network with other mayors 28 and councilmembers. 29 30 VIII. COMMUNITY FORUM. 31 32 Mayor Hodson noted the comments part of the Council meeting had been moved to the end of 33 the meeting. He explained many Council meetings did not have public comments as part of their 34 agendas and other Councils stated they allowed public comments at the end of their Council 35 meetings. He stated there was concern that the change would inhibit the involvement of 36 residents; therefore,he wanted to encourage people to continue to attend the Council meetings 37 with their comments. 38 39 No one came forward to address Council. 40 41 IX.
