City Council Regular Meeting Minutes 08 <br /> March 9, 2004 <br /> Page 8 <br /> 1 ■ Bids for the water treatment plant were due to be opened March 11, 2004, and awarded.at <br /> 2 the March 23, 2004, Council meeting. He noted the funding was in place a year ago. <br /> 3 ■ Application for building permits for the Autumn Woods project would be made in April, <br /> 4 which was a more aggressive approach than planned. He noted the City would see a full: <br /> 5 tax benefit from the project immediately. Mayor Hodson asked regarding the value of <br /> 6 the project. Mr. Morrison responded the annual taxes would be approximately$36,000 <br /> 7 per year versus the current.$5,000. <br /> 8 Construction on the public works facility was scheduled for completion on May 25, 2004, <br /> 9 which was ahead of schedule, and the dedication was scheduled for June 24, 2004 <br /> 10 between 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. He noted tours would be available to Council if <br /> 11 members were interested. <br /> 12 The Amcon retail center was scheduled for completion by June 1, 2004, at which time the <br /> 13 liquor store would be operating, and a Customer Appreciation for the liquor store only <br /> 14 was scheduled for June 21 to June 26, 2004. <br /> 15 ■ Joint meeting with School Board scheduled for April 5, 2004, at 6:00 p.m. He stated <br /> 16 Council was asked to meet at 5:00 p.m. to review goals before presented to other City <br /> 17 bodies. He added he was working with the Superintendent on a joint agreement for the <br /> 18 recreation funding discussed at the goal setting. <br /> 19 ■ Joint meeting with Parks Commission scheduled for April 12, 2004, at 5:30 p.m. <br /> 20 ■ Joint meeting with Planning Commission scheduled for April 20, 2004, at 5:30 p.m. <br /> 21 ■ Regular Council meetings were scheduled for April 13, 2004, and April 27, 2004. <br /> 22 ■ City-wide Cleanup Day scheduled for May 1, 2004. He noted this would be held across <br /> 23 the street from the public works site. <br /> 24 <br /> 25 Councilmember Stille stated he attended a leadership conference for newly elected officials on <br /> 26 February 20 and February 21, 2004, where discussion took place regarding the importance of <br /> 27 vision as it related to accomplishment and implementation of goals. He noted the conference <br /> 28 was"well worth my time." <br /> 29 <br /> 30 Councilmember Stille indicated he attended a Legislative Conference with Councilmember <br /> 31 Horst, Councilmember Thuesen and City Manager Mornson on March 3, 2004. He stated the <br /> 32 League of Minnesota Cities gave ideas regarding what to expect from bills in front of the <br /> 33 Legislature. <br /> 34 <br /> 35 Councilmember Stille noted he attended the Parks Commission meeting on March 8, 2004, <br /> 36 where work was being done on a grand opening for sometime between the middle of June to the <br /> 37 end of June. He questioned how that would blend with the other grand openings scheduled for <br /> 38 the end of June and indicated the topic would be discussed at the joint meeting with Council in <br /> 39 April. <br /> 40 <br /> 41 Councilmember Thuesen noted he attended the League of Minnesota Cities Legislative <br /> 42 Conference mentioned by Councilmember Stille. He agreed it was very beneficial and helped <br /> 43 those in attendance understand where the State Legislature was headed. He cited the various <br /> 44 speakers during the morning session and indicated there was an opportunity to visit with other <br /> 45 lawmakers during the afternoon. He added it should be an interesting, challenging session, <br /> 46 especially regarding the budget issues. <br />
