Mayor Ranallo's Report <br /> Mayor Ranallo attended the recent St. Anthony Merchant' s meeting where <br /> new methods of advertising was discussed. The Association' s new president <br /> Is the owner of the jewelry store in Apache Shopping Center-. It is the <br /> P intent of the Association to have a flyer sponsored by all twenty-one <br /> member merchants inserted into a local newspaper on a monthly basis. <br /> 9 <br /> 10 The Mayor attended the D.A.R.E . Program graduation. The guest speaker was <br /> 11 Attorney General Skip Humphrey. A letter from the Mayor was. sent to the <br /> 12 Attorney General thanking him for his interest in the Program. A letter <br /> 13 was also sent to all of those in the community who contributed to the <br /> 1'4 funding for the Program. <br /> 15 <br /> 16 The School District held a two day Strategic Planning Session on <br /> 17 January 29th and 30th at the Skywood Inn. Included in this Planning <br /> 18 Session was the updating of the five year plan for the District and <br /> 19 discussion regarding community programs and the future of the Community <br /> 20 Building. The Mayor attended the Session. <br /> 21 <br /> 23 2. Councilmember Wagner' s Report <br /> 24 Councilmember Wagner gave a status report on the Special Olympics scheduled <br /> for the summer of 1991 . He noted that the countries of Tunisia and the Ivory <br /> 25 Coast are not sending athletes to the affair. Thirteen athletes will be <br /> representing St. Vincent, an island in the Caribbean and hosted by the City. <br /> 27 <br /> 27 Although it is not too likely any of the athletes will be visiting the City <br /> while they are here, he encouraged the City to be the local host for the <br /> 29 athletic delegation. <br /> 31 Mayor Ranallo requested Councilmember Wagner to attend a Chamber. of Commerce <br /> 32 meeting to generate enthusiasm for the athletes. Parents of the participating <br /> 33 athletes will not be in attendance at the Special Olympics so these youngsters <br /> �4 would be grateful for the support of residents. <br /> 35 <br /> 36 3. Councilmember Fleming's Report <br /> 37 Councilmember Fleming attended the January 25th reception hosted by Congress- <br /> 38 man Sabo. She also attended the session sponsored by the Government Training <br /> 39 Service and the Conference for newly-elected local officials given by <br /> 40 the League of Minnesota Cities. The information presented by the League staff <br /> 41 regarding budgets and fiscal responsibility was very informative. She noted <br /> 42 that the comments of Mayor Hazama of Rochester were interesting. The League <br /> 43 is holding its annual conference in Rochester in June. <br /> 4y <br /> 46 4. Councilmember Marks' Report <br /> Councilmember Marks attended the reception hosted by Congressman Sabo and <br /> 47 48 observed a somberness in evidence which he felt was a reflection of the war <br /> 49 atmosphere. <br /> SO' On January 26th, Councilmember Marks participated in the Annual Planning and <br />
