City Manager's Report <br /> The City Manager advised that a social has been scheduled for Wednesday, <br /> March 13th for members of the School Board and members of the City Council . <br /> R The purpose of the social is for newly-elected members of both bodies <br /> 9 to be introduced. It is being held at the Speakeasy at the Stone House <br /> 10 and will start at 6:00 p.m. . <br /> 11 The Volunteers Dinner will be held at the Shoreview Community Center on <br /> 12 April 22nd. The City Manager will be making the final arrangements will <br /> 13 <br /> IN Mayor Wedell of Shoreview. <br /> 15 The law firm of Briggs and Morgan has offered to act as legal counsel in <br /> .16 the matter of the filtration plant. Bill Soth, noting that he had Dre- <br /> 17 pared the original contract in this matter, requested continued involvement. <br /> 16 He will review the contract. The City Manager advised that the State of <br /> 19 Minnesota owns the real property and the City owns the land. The State <br /> 20 will deed the real property to the City when it is acceptable to the City. <br /> 21 <br /> 22 <br /> 23 Resolution No. 91-014;' Ramsey County Recycling Program Funding <br /> 24 Ramsey County is sponsoring a new grant program in 1991 . The grant is a <br /> 5 Municipal Recycling Expansion Grant intended for new and/or additional <br /> 25 activities related to enhancing a community' s recycling program. The total <br /> 27 amount St. Anthony is eligible to receive is $9,387• Sue VanderHeyden is <br /> 28 requesting the City Council to approve this resolution as it is required <br /> �9 by Ramsey County as part of the application package. <br /> 30 Motion by Marks, second by Enrooth to approve Resolution No. 91-014; <br /> 31 a resolution requesting funding as part of the Ramsey County Expansion <br /> 32 Grant Program. <br /> 33 <br /> 34 Motion carried unanimously <br /> 35 <br /> 36 VanderHeydgn advised the Council that the dumpster presently being used <br /> 37 at the Recycling Center is on a charge basis. It is being supplied by <br /> 36 Waste Management-Blaine. When the City no longer employed the services <br /> 49 of this firm, it commenced charging for the dumpster. She noted that <br /> 4t residents are still leaving items which are no.longer- acceptable at the <br /> Recycling Center, such as furniture, appliances, etc. . She inquired if <br /> 42 <br /> 42 there were any suggestions as to how this practice could be stopped. <br /> 44 Mayor Ranallo requested that the Bulletin run an article regarding this <br /> LS <br /> 46 matter and to request residents to honor the purpose of the Recycling Center. <br /> 47 A recent article in the League of Minnesota Cities Bulletin addressed <br /> 48 recycling mandates and procedures for cities to employ for disposal of <br /> 49 refuse.
