STAFF REPORT
DATE: November 19, 1992
TO: Planning Commission
FROM: David Mark Urbia, Management Assistant
ITEM: REIMBURSEMENT FOR EXPENSES/OTHER ISSUES
The following questions were asked at the November 17, 1992 Planning Commission
ineeting:
Question: Would mileage/travel expenses be reimbursed for attending a seminar?
Answer: Yes -- if a Planning Commissioner attends a seminar related to Planning
Commission duties. The Commissioner should keep track of mileage and other travel
related expenses (i.e. parking, meals) and request from staff the appropriate form'to receive
reimbursement.
Question: Is there a difference between compensation and per dium?
Answer: Yes -- there is no reference that I could see in the statutes regarding these
definitions; however, there is a difference.
Question: Is there a Minnesota State Statute prohibiting compensation to Planning
Commissions?
Answer: After searching the statutes under all topics related to planning, I did not find any
reference to compensation. From this, I would assume that there is no statute prohibiting
compensation to Planning Commissions.
