6. The ability to locate garages elsewhere on the subject property: •
No practical alternatives appear to exist given the layout of the subject property's lot. An
existing gravel driveway on the subject property more or less dictates the location of the
new driveway. The garage is to be moved to lessen the length of the new driveway(78 feet
vs. 120 feet),lower the amount of wasted space, and make a breezeway addition possible.
7. Other relevant matters:
The setback permit is requested primarily to make a breezeway addition practical(9 feet
vs. 7 feet in length), in connection with the construction of a new concrete driveway. The
garage on the subject property has to be moved in order to make a concrete driveway
affordable. Moreover, its current location is not square with the property line and wastes a
significant amount of back yard space. Aside from the cost and wasted space, installation
of a driveway without moving the garage would result in a 120+foot driveway which
would not fit in with the neighboring properties(the driveway on the adjoining property is
approximately 48 feet in length).
•
