1 CITY OF ST. ANTHONY <br /> 2 Parks Advisory Task Force Meeting Minutes <br /> 3 October 20, 1997 <br /> 4 7:00 P.M. <br /> 5 I. CALL TO ORDER. <br /> 6 The meeting was called to order at 7:05 P.M. <br /> 7 Present: Bill Weber, BRW, Inc.; Kim Moore-Sykes, Management Assistant; Jay <br /> 8 Hartman, Public Works; Kathy Bloomquist, Nativity Lutheran Church; Andrea <br /> 9 Stephens. <br /> 10 II. OPENING REMARKS. <br /> 11 Bill Weber, BRW, Inc:-introduced himself, stating that Bob Kost could not beat <br /> 12 - this evening's meeting. <br /> 13 III. TABULATE MATRIX AND REVIEW RESULTS. <br /> 14 Councilmember Wagner requested that the Task Force consider a recommendation <br /> 15 to the City Council that the Council proceed to act on their commitment to <br /> 16 Community Services to'replace the play area that was removed to construct the new <br /> 17 City Hall/Community Center. Wagner felt that this needs to be done as soon as <br /> 18 possible or the weather will make it difficult to do anything this year and it will <br /> 19 have to be put off until next year. Wagner.indicated that Community Services is <br /> 20 willing to provide usage of this "tot lot" on a shared basis. He felt the times that <br /> 21 the play area is available could be posted. <br /> 22 Bloomquist indicated that Nativity Lutheran Church would be interested in <br /> 23 participating in the construction of a play area that their programs could use. <br /> 24 Motion by Wagner, second by Jindra to recommend to the City Council to <br /> 25 construct a temporary play area at the NE corner of the City Hall/Community <br /> 26 Center so that the City can honor their commitment to replace the play area used <br /> 27 by Community Services programs and removed to construct the new City <br /> 28 Hall/Community Center. <br /> 29 Wagner reported that Community Services would post times when their programs <br /> 30 that would be using the play area. He stated that the play areas would be available <br /> 31 to the public for their use. He indicated that the play area would be approximately <br /> 32 4,000 square feet, which is not adequate for the number of children that want to <br /> 33 play there, but should be seen as only a temporary solution. <br /> 34 Gordhamer suggested tabling this discussion until after the matrix was discussed. <br /> 35 Wagner indicated that this project cannot be delayed until the Task Force decided <br /> 36 on an appropriate area for this play area.
