• Understand and Demonstrate the Elements of Teams and Teamwork (Low = 1; <br /> High = 5) <br /> 2a. 3.00 We recognize the importance of coming together as a governing body to exercise <br /> authority and act as a Council to fulfill our purpose. <br /> Range: 2 2 4 3 4 3 <br /> 2b. 2.17 We are a synergistic team working together to get results, helping each other out <br /> when needed, and achieving results for which we hold ourselves mutually <br /> accountable. <br /> Range: 2 2 3 2 2 2 <br /> Reasons for high ratings. Reasons for low ratings. <br /> ➢ A certain individual does not have a desire to <br /> be part of a team. <br /> ➢ We appear to be five individuals coming <br /> together twice a month. <br /> 9 The Hillcrest Vote created hard feelings. <br /> ➢ The Hillcrest Vote and issues associated with <br /> this Vote put a strain on the Council—it created <br /> a lack of trust among Council Members. <br /> ➢ We do our'chores' but not synergistically. We <br /> work more individually. <br /> ➢ Poor communications. <br /> ➢ No work sessions. <br /> No casual conversation. <br /> Things we need to work on. <br /> • Get the negative behavior and attitude out of the team concept. <br /> • How we come together. <br /> • Open discussions. <br /> • Shared goals. <br /> Comments made by Council: <br /> ➢ What can we all do to increase synergy through the NW Quadrant process? <br /> ➢' We need to focus on honesty in our communications. <br /> ➢ We need time'to share our beliefs, feelings, and thoughts, not the answers with each other. <br /> ➢ We need to have one work or study session a month, a place where we can discuss the issues and <br /> clarify perspectives. <br /> ➢ We could sit in a different setting such as around a table in another room. Perhaps off camera. The <br /> community would be welcome to attend this meeting. <br /> ➢ Our goal should be to be more productive as a team. We may all disagree at times, but we are the <br /> leaders of this community and there are things we need to decide upon and get accomplished. <br /> ➢ It takes courage to be contrary to the group—it forces introspection. <br /> ➢ We need a place where we can talk respectively about our differences. With more information <br /> comes more clarification and hopefully, more success. <br /> • <br /> 5 <br />
