Parks Commission Meeting Minutes January 29, 2001 Page 5 1 Mr. Hartman stated the building size will probably not exceed this threshold. The Commission 2 agreed. Mr. Kost stated their design will just identify the pad and they will bring the sewer and 3 water within five.feet of the building'so the building contractor can make the connection. Mr. 4 Kost stated he will prepare a site plan which Mr. Hartman can provide to the Commission. 5 Anderson suggested the subcommittee meet again to address the types of groups that will use this 6 facility, peak attendance, need for picnic tables, etc. He stated he thinks this concept may include 7 more covered space than is needed. Once those issues are identified, Ms. Olivier will be better 8 able to determine the size of building which meets that need. 9 Skrivseth reviewed the current size of programs and estimated an attendance of at least 40 10 children. 11 Zurbey stated he thinks the size of the concession stand and bathrooms (with double vanities) is 12 too large. 13 Jindra stated she thinks there is plenty of picnic space available. Skrivseth stated the picnic areas 14 are rented out every summer weekend. 5 The Commission agreed that the shelter will not exceed 2,240 square feet. 16 Landscape Subcommittee 17 Jindra stated the Landscape Subcommittee has not yet met. 18 19 Field Subcommittee 20 Zurbey stated this information gives them a lot if issues to raise with the athletic director. 21 Jensen stated he has contacted a Senior Parks Designer for the City of St. Paul who deals with 22 landscaping and trails and is willing to meet with the subcommittee and provide input. 23 It was decided the Field Subcommittee would meet with this Senior Parks Designer on 24 Wednesday, January.31, 2001, and to also invite Ted Severson. 25 Mr. Kost stated the plans can be finalized on February 12th. If approved by the Commission, 26 then it will take them several weeks to complete the plans. Once the plans are approved, they 27 will go out for bids. He reviewed the other issues that they can get prices for in case the 28 Commission wants to consider it for future planning. 29 Anderson reviewed his meeting with City Staff and BRW and indication that BRW would 0 3 30 include as many bidding options as possible to allow the Commission to make those decision 1 once the bids are known. He stated they did drop the bid option for placing drain tile under the 2 fields.
