The goal of. adult services is to provide an individualized program that <br /> fosters social maturity and independence in self-cNre skills and for some <br /> the development of skills that enable there to eventually function in a <br /> work activity enter. <br /> The objectives of the adult program arc : <br /> 1. To secure an estimate of each person's general level of functioning <br /> and social maturity; <br /> 2. To assess each person's communication sI: i 1 1 - . <br /> 3. To introduce the coHc.ept of work :ind the ticvrLopment of basic work <br /> habits and ski..11s; and <br /> 4. To provide an individual training program. <br /> The methods by which the objectives of the adult program are carried out <br /> are bv: <br /> 1. Securing up-to-date psychological evaluations; <br /> 2. Assessing each adults hearing; and communication skills by the <br /> St . Paul Rehabilitation Center and a language consultant; <br /> :3. Providing an WILernati.ve communicat ions system for some persons; <br /> 4. Securing sub-contract work; <br /> 5. Developing pre-vocational classes; <br /> 6. Provide social awareness, group discussion , personal contracts, <br /> assertiveness training; <br /> 7. Providing a physical education program and the development of <br /> leisure time skills: <br /> S. One-to-one instruction; <br /> 9. Behavior programs for some persons; <br /> 10. Referral of some persons to appropriate other programs (behavioral <br /> achievement center, work activity center) ; <br /> 1 1 .
