Agenda Item: Reports-4a Status: Informational <br /> • MEMORANDUM <br /> DATE: December 11 , 1984 <br /> TO: David Childs, City Manager <br /> Department Heads <br /> FROM: Connie Kroeplin, Administrative Secretary <br /> SUBJECT: Staff Meeting Notes - December 11 , 1984 <br /> ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- <br /> The meeting began at 9:40 A.M. Those present were Don Hickerson, Larry Hamer, <br /> Ray Nelson, David Childs, Carol Johnson, -Lee Entner, and Connie Kroeplin. <br /> Two Public Works employees will retire within the next three months. Paul Reiling <br /> will retire as of December 31st after 15 years with the City and Joe Woehrle has <br /> been with the. City for 17 years and will retire in February. Tentative plans are <br /> to have one party for both men, sometime in February. <br /> Per the union contract, the mechanic vacancy has been posted at the Public Works <br /> shop. It is expected the position will be filled from within the Department and <br /> the vacancy created therefrom would be for a laborer classification. Mr. Hamer <br /> plans to revamp the mechanic function somwhat, which he feels will improve vehicle <br /> maintenance. <br /> • Ray Nelson indicated he would like to commend Officer John MacQueen for MacQueen 's <br /> apprehension of a burglar at the liquor warehouse. Officer MacQueen caught the <br /> suspect burgler immediately after he broke a window at the SAV warehouse. The s <br /> same suspect had also recently burglarized Jerry's Toys and Hobbies, it was dis- <br /> covered later. <br /> Mr. Nelson also noted advertising for the liquor operations has been stepped up <br /> for December and business is doing very well . <br /> The personnel ordinance will be updated beginning in January, according to Carol <br /> Johnson. She also mentioned the employees Christmas luncheon will be held on <br /> Friday, December 21st. <br /> The Police Secretarial vacancy will be filled by Barbara Dimich from Roseville. <br /> Ms. Dimich has been working for Honeywell for the past 8 years and will begin <br /> in the Police Department on January 2nd. She was selected from 39 applicants. <br /> Insurance coverage after retirement was discussed. Dave Childs indicated he will <br /> prepare a resolution concerning this topic to submit to the Council at their <br /> December 18th meeting. It will recommend that employees be allowed to continue on <br /> the City health insurance at employee expense. <br /> Mr. Childs also said the garbage pick up situation in the City should improve now <br /> that Steve Christen has been appointed Residential Manager of Waste Management. <br /> • Mr. Christen will be responsible to act on all complaints received by that company. <br /> The meeting adjourned at 11 :00 A.M. <br /> E' <br />
