Childs, City Manager I T EM • PROPOSED SALE OF PARKVIEW FACILITY TO THE CITY Based on previous discussions -and .memos submitted to. the Council , Bill Soth and I_ are preparing -a draft of an offer to purchase- the Parkview.-faci.lity from- the school . This document will be ready in time- for. "the May 12th Council• meeting -and Bill Soth and I hope to be able to walk through the draft with you at the meeting. As we discussed before the general terms ..of purchase.are: 1. City to -construct- a 60 car parking lot west of the high school per design to be submitted by the school . They are not yet completed by the school . . 2. City to construct-- a playground area in location specified by the school to contain about 8 pieces, of equipment, fenced and to be per design- as submitted by -the school . The design has not yet been submitted, for our review. _, 3. City to - complete-outside summer maintenance of the high school property for two summers. The details of what this involves, including when we start, when we stop, i .e. , June - September?, what work this includes, etc. remain to be specifically agreed upon. 4. The City would agree to use- of the Parkview gym by,the school for recreational programs until such time as actual remodeling of- the gym for City purposes - begins. 5. The City intends to utilize the cafeteria for a :community room and would allow the school the opportunity to -schedule the space for community-ed type activities, i .e. , exercise classes,. etc. on a .space available basis. 5 The school has asked that the City have- an offer to them.- in, time for their May 18th meeting, so I am. giving you this pre-limi nary ,info.rmation so that you can react to it. Questions/Issues Remaining. , 1. Until the design- of the parking lot and play.ground. facility is. received, no specific dollar cost can be calculated for these items. A rough. estimate would be $10,000 - $15,000 for the playground; $35,OOO .to $40,000 for- the parking lot; and $20,000 - $30,000 to underground the. power lines adjacent to the proposed lot, if required. I do not feel that undergrounding the lines is mandatory. 2. Until the specifics relating to the outside. mainten-ance- responsi.bilities and time are determined, no specific dollar cost could:be -assigned for this item.
