August 12, 1988
• To: Members of the Planning Commission
From: David M. Childs, City Manager
Re: 88-18 Request from Lang/Nelson Companies for amendment to
the Development Concept Plan and Detail Plan for the third phase
of the Kenzie Terrace Redevelopment Project.
As you will note from the legal advertisement, the general
concept approved by the City Planning Commission and the City
Council last fall for the Gaughan Companies has changed very
little. There were some minor changes like going from two large
buildings to three buildings (one large and two smaller) and by
increasing the individual unit size, requiring that more land be
acquired by the H.R.A. . The additional parcel to be acquired is
a small part of the parking lot of the Town and Country Foods
Store. Fortunately, their property extends well beyond what they
realized that they owned, so the spaces that they currently
stripe and maintain will be disturbed very little.
Lang/Nelson will be present at the meeting to explain their
development proposal, and I am sure that you will find that it
improves upon the concept previously given by the Gaughan
Companies. Please call me if you have any questions about this
proposal, and keep hoping that they can get their financing in
the next 30 days or so.
