ANTHONY <br /> •2 BOARD OF REVIEW CONTINUATION <br /> 3 APRIL 25, 1989 <br /> 4 The Board of Review by the St. Anthony City Council was reconvened at <br /> 5 6: 30 P.M. by Mayor Sundland. <br /> 6 Present: Marks, Sundland, Enrooth, Makowske (Marks at 6: 35 P.M. ) . <br /> 7 Absent: Ranallo. <br /> 8 Also present: David Childs, City Manager <br /> 9 Sue VanderHeyden, Assistant to the City Manager <br /> 10 Richard O. Becken, Hennepin County Assessor's Office <br /> 11 Councilmember Enrooth• to Meet With Hennepin County Assessor in May to <br /> 12 Gain Better Insight About How City Valuations Are Established <br /> 13 Mayor Sundland 'told the Appraiser that Councilmembers perceived their <br /> 14 own inability to understand the rapid rise in valuations for City <br /> 15 ' property made it all the more difficult to explain those raises to <br /> 16 residents who contact City officials regarding the valuations they <br /> 17 received this year. He said he therefore perceived it might be helpful <br /> 18 for one of the Councilmembers to sit down with a County representative <br /> who could explain how such determinations are made. Mr. Becken <br /> recommended Tom May as the logical person to provide that information.. <br /> 21 Council Action <br /> 22 Motion by Sundland, seconded by Makowske to appoint Councilmember <br /> 23 Enrooth to meet with a representative of the Hennepin County Assessors <br /> 24 Office to investigate the direction that the City valuations are going <br /> 25 and to get a better understanding of the processes theAssessors follow <br /> 26 when making those changes to .valuations. <br /> 27 Motion carried unanimously. <br /> 28 Councilmember Marks arrived after the above vote was taken. <br /> 29 Six City Property Valuations Reduced and One Increased Following County <br /> 30 Re-Apuraisals <br /> 31 The Council,. during its April 11th Board of Review, had directed the <br /> 32 . County to review nine properties in St. Anthony whose owners were <br /> 33 protesting their first evaluations. Mr. Becken reported five other <br /> 34 property owners had also requested reviews after that meeting and the <br /> 35 results of the 14 re-evaluations were contained in the April 24th letter <br /> 36 from Glen Busitzky, Principal Appraiser for Hennepin County which had <br /> 37 been distributed to Councilmembers prior to the hearing that evening. <br /> 1 <br />
