Burt said their consideration for
combining the hockey into one area at Central Park was made due to a
number of complaints from residents about the noise. Because the
temporary water treatment plant didn't come out of the park in time, there
• 19 were no plans for a hockey rink at the Central Park location this winter. A
report by the rink attendant indicated that the rink received little use. As a
result, a decision was made to close it. However, a resident persuaded Burt
to reconsider and the hockey boards will be up.

To resolve the noise problem, Burt said the ice will be maintained after 7
a.m. 'The ice rink will not be perfect but it will be well maintained. Mayor
Ranallo assured those attending that the rinks would have good ice.

Bruce Holten,.2909 Rankin Road, heard Silver Point hockey rink would be
closed. Mr. Hamer confirmed. Holten was upset because he and others
didn't know anything about the decisions being made. As a parent he
prefers to see kids only have to go a few blocks to a rink. And he was
concerned that if hockey was only set up at one rink, kids would play hockey
on the rink and that would make it unsafe for others.

Those attending wanted to be assured that in the future residents will be
notified if there is such a consideration.

Mark Kozlak, 2612 Murray Avenue, said that the rinks do get a lot of use
and it good to have hockey separated. Because there is no parks director,
Kozlak felt it was important the residents knew about the issue. The papers
should report it.
