Council Reports �9 Report of Councilmember Wagner 11 Councilmember Wagner attended the League of Minnesota Cities Annual 2 Conference in Rochester, Minnesota. He found it to be well organized 1 12 and informative. He felt the City of Rochester was very hospitable, i4 LM Councilmember Wagner reported on the status of the plans for the Is 16 Special Olympics which are being held in the Twin City area from 17 July 19th through July 27th. St. Anthony is hosting the athletes from 16 St. Vincent and fourteen athletes are expected as are four coaches. 19 He noted that all of the athletes will be accommodated in dormatories 20 in the area and hoped some of them could visit the City: The City' s 21 Chamber of Commerce is coordinating buses and schedules for some of 22 the residents to attend some of the events. 23 4 Mayor Ranallo advised he had applied to be a host family for some of 2the athletes or their coaches or families. He received notice that 24 5 some members of the San Marino delegation will be staying. at his home. 026 27 San Marino is located in Italy and is the smallest province in the 7world. Five families- and five athletes are coming to the Special 28 2 9 Olympics -from San Marino. Mayor Ranallo is hopeful that some of the 30 family members will be able to attend the July Council meeting. 31 32 Six thousand athletes, two thousand coaches and numerous family members 33 will be attending and participating in the Special Olympics. 34 5 Report of Councilmember Fleming 35 Councilmember Fleming also attended the League of Minnesota Cities Annual 7 Conference in Rochester. She felt it was very well organized and thought 37 there was real benefit to elected officials to be able to discuss matters 9 of mutual interest with other officials. She noted some of these issues 3 30 addressed attracting, young families to reside in your city, financing 41 opportunities/problems of smaller cities and crime in smaller cities. 42 Councilmember Fleming commended the reporter from the -Bulletin for the J-3 article she had written on the Crime Watch program in St.Anthony, Le As a result of this article interest has been expressed by more residents 46 and two or three more meetings have been set up. 47 Report of Councilmember Enrooth 46 While attending the League of Minnesota Cities Annual Conference, Council- So 49 member Enrooth spoke directly with the National League of Cities rep- 0
