1 REGULAR COUNCIL MEETING • <br /> 2 AUGUST 27 , 1991 <br /> 3 PAGE 4 <br /> 4 <br /> 5 <br /> 6 Ken Girard, representing the St . Anthony Lion' s Club, is requesting <br /> 7 permission for the Club to hold a White Cane Day fundraiser on <br /> 8 September 14 , 1991 . <br /> 9 <br /> 10 This is the second year this function will be operated in St . <br /> 11 Anthony. Proceeds go to the Lions Eye Bank and the Children's Eye <br /> 12 Program at the University of Minnesota Hospitals. <br /> 13 <br /> 14 Last year the Club raised $800 .00 in four hours . - There are <br /> 15 presently eighteen members in the Lions Club and Mr. Girard noted <br /> 16 there is hope that the membership will increase. Mayor Ranallo <br /> 17 stated that the Club has raised an enormous amount of money in the <br /> 1.8 twenty-five years of its existence. Mr. Girard noted that the Club <br /> 19 has purchased the scoreboard at the High School , the timekeeping <br /> 20 board for the indoor swimming pool and donated $3 ,000 to Trillium <br /> 21 Park. <br /> 22 <br /> 23 Last year , Mr . Girard attended a Council Meeting where Kay Andrews <br /> 24 was present . Ms . Andrews is the Executive Director of the Northwest <br /> 25 Youth Services Bureau and is visually impaired. Mr. Girard referred <br /> 26 her to the Lions Club Pull Tab Committee for funds for the Bureau. <br /> 27 He noted she was successful in her request . Ms. Andrews uses a • <br /> 28 " leader dog" and Mr . Girard informed the Council of the numerous <br /> 29 activities of the Lions Club in the "Leader Dog Program. " <br /> 30 <br /> 31 Motion by Wagner , second by Fleming to designate September 11 , 1991 <br /> 32 as "White Cane Day in St . Anthony" . <br /> 33 <br /> 34 Motion carried unanimously <br /> 35 <br /> 36 <br /> 37 6 . PRESENTATION OF CLAIMS <br /> 38 <br /> 39 A. -Maier Stewart & Associates <br /> 40 Motion by Wagner, second by Enrooth to approve payment in <br /> 41 the amount of $971 . 61 to Maier Stewart .& Associates for <br /> 42 engineering services rendered from June 30, 1991 through <br /> 43 July 27, 1991 for the Chandler Drive Concrete Pavement <br /> 44 Rehab. <br /> 45 <br /> 46 Motion carried unanimously <br /> 47 <br /> 48 'B. Dorsey & Whitney <br /> 49 Motion by Enrooth, second by Ranallo to approve payment <br /> 50 in the amount of $110 . 00 to Dorsey & Whitney for legal <br /> 51 services rendered through June 30, 1991 for the Foss Road <br /> 52 Life Station (NewMech Companies ) • <br /> 53 <br /> 54 <br />
