5. Signage for Apache Medical Building. Jeff Wirth, Kim Flynn of Quiet
Waters Salon and Jamie, the building manger, presented a comprehensive •
sign plan for the medical building. Ms. Flynn showed photographs of other
similar buildings in the metro area that utilize wall signs for their tenants.
Staff reported that other cities (e.g., Roseville and Fridley) with
medical/professional buildings do allow a certain amount of wall signage.
These cities reported that the owner/developer of the building is required to
present the City with a comprehensive sign package for approval. Once the
sign plan is approved, it is the responsibility of the owner/developer to
administer the sign plan. If there are violations, the City holds the
owner/developer responsible.
The Planning Commission liked the plan submitted to them (attached) and
encouraged them to seek Council approval. Mr. Wirth indicated that he
would have a sign plan drafted for the June Planning Commission meeting.
The Planning Commission asked Staff to prepare language for
medical/professional buildings for an Ordinance revision as they found that
there are other buildings in St. Anthony that may want to do something like
this in the future, e.g. Firstar Bank Building, dental buildings on Silver Lake
Road.
6. Italian Restaurant -- Pizza Hut Site. Staff reported that the of gas station and
shopping area adjacent to the Pizza Hut site met with Staff regarding a
proposal to construct an addition to the existing building for an Italian •
restaurant. Staff provided this as information only as the owner has not filed
an application to replat.
The meeting adjourned at 10:15 p.m.
