City Council Meeting Minutes
July 13, 1999 •
Page 8
Mr. Hubmer stated the project was expanded to increase the sidewalk corridor and address
significant sanitary backup problems within the community. He noted the present sewer line
does not accommodate current flow, and a new system may alleviate those problems.
Faust stated the issue had been tabled because the Council can not support any course of action at
this point. He commended Mr. Hubmer for presenting possible courses of action to the Council.
He added that community input is necessary before a decision can be made. He noted the project
might save money in the long run, and the addition of sidewalks is a positive one as it represents
a conduit for the community.
Marks stated residents are concerned about the high volume and speed of traffic along 29th
I0 Avenue. He expressed his approval of the addition of sidewalks which help build community
among neighbors.
Cavanaugh expressed concern that the Council should not lose sight of the original issue which is
the resolution of flooding problems.
Ranallo noted the public hearing is scheduled for July.27, 1999 and a notice has been sent.
Morrison stated the Council traditionally plays a passive role in such hearings. Mr. Hubmer
added the public hearing will be part of the larger consensus-building process.
Ranallo requested that an attendance record be kept at the public hearing so that no residents will
be left out of the process.
H.
