City Council Meeting Minutes <br /> July 13, 1999 <br /> • Page 9 <br /> 1 Cavanaugh reported on his attendance at 2 recent Y2K information meetings. He stated much of <br /> 2 the discussion centers around grass roots organizational efforts. He added there will be more <br /> 3 media coverage of the issue after September. <br /> 4 Cavanaugh stated a concert benefiting the Second Harvest foodshelf will be held Sunday July 18, <br /> 5 1999 from 12:00-8:00 PM in the high school football stadium. He noted that 12 local bands will <br /> 6 be featured, and admission is $2 with a food donation or$5 without a donation. He added this <br /> 7 will be a positive community event and noise will be kept within limits. <br /> 8 Cavanaugh reported on his attendance at a recent VillageFest organizational meeting. He stated <br /> 9 that plans are progressing,to include a concert at the Stone House, a 5K race,parade and tennis <br /> 10 tournament. He added that a scavenger hunt will be held this year rather than a medallion hunt <br /> 11 as in previous years. He noted the festival will be a wonderful event for the community. <br /> 12 Marks presented photographs taken during the recent visit from the Rivakat dance group from <br /> 13 Salo, Finland. He added the events photographed include a performance at the State Capitol and <br /> 14 tour of the Senate Chambers conducted by Senator Marty as well as the community picnic and <br /> 5 other performances. He noted that he was in Central Asia during the dance group's visit, and <br /> thanked Cavanaugh for his remarks and assistance at the community picnic. <br /> 17 I. Mayor. <br /> 18 Ranallo stated, as a reminder, that Tuesday August 3, 1999 has been designated National Night <br /> 19 Out, and he encouraged residents to contact the Police Department for more information and to <br /> 20 schedule an open house. <br /> 21 J. City Manager. <br /> 22 Morrison reported on his attendance at a recent working session with the new owners of the St. <br /> 23 Anthony shopping center, which included City staff, the center's leasing agent and architect, the <br /> 24 new owner of the Town& Country site and Richard Krier. He stated the meeting was positive <br /> 25 and progress was made toward opening a dialogue between the involved parties. <br /> 26 Morrison stated the group will meet again in 2 weeks. He noted a public hearing will be held at <br /> 27 the Planning Commission's July 20, 1999 meeting, the results of which will be presented to the <br /> 28 Council by Richard Krier at the Council's July 27, 1999 regular meeting. <br /> 29 Morrison stated he received a call from the Hennepin County Library administrators who <br /> 30 expressed their wish to remain a part of the center, and were concerned about the shopping center <br /> 31 renovation. <br /> Morrison stated, as discussed at a recent worksession, that the high school needs to put a fire road <br /> W33 around their facility, a portion of which would be on City property.
