w. Planning Commission Meeting Minutes May 15, 2001 Page 3 1 Ms. Henry stated that the purpose of meeting with the Council is to brief them on what is 2 happening with the City Monument Sign. She indicated that a landscape architect would be 3 hired, once they receive the sign: 4 Commissioner Tillmann would like for a designer to sketch the proposed sign on the proposed 5 Site with the landscaping around it, to eliminate any confusion of what the electronic sign might 6 look like. 7 Motion by Vice Chair Stille, second by Commissioner Tillmann, to recommend to the City 8 Council that a change be made in the city ordinance to allow for electronic signs, for public 9 information purposes only. 10 Motion carried unanimously. 11 8.2 Update from Antenna Ordinance Subcommittee- Vice Chair Stille. 12 Tabled until next month. 13 IX. INFORMATION AND DISCUSSION. 14 9.1 Northwest Quadrant Master Plan Update. 15 Sue Henry stated that the next Planning/Steering Committee would be held May 31, 2001. She 16 indicated the meeting should be the last for the steering committee before action begins taking 17 place. 18 Commissioner Thomas indicated that he had reviewed the City Council minutes, and that it was 19 evident that the density issues are significant. He stated that density does not necessarily mean 20 high crime, and additional police calls. He added that, from an economic point of view, in order 21 for anything to work in that area, some density is necessary. 22 Ms. Henry added that, at the next Planning Commission meeting in June, the Master Plan for the 23 Northwest Quadrant would be presented for comment before it goes to the City Council. 24 X. ANNOUNCEMENTS. 25 Ms. Henry stated she had talked to the applicant for the Fuel Mart Car Wash that had come 26 before the Commission last summer, and he indicated that he was working on the improvements, 27 and that it should be ready in the next couple of weeks. 28 Ms. Henry provided the Planning Commission with an update on Walgreen's. She indicated that 29 no type of building permit would be released until the footing plans were revised. She stated that 30 there may be some relocation involved at Walgreen's cost. 31 Ms. Henry also stated that they reviewed the tow-truck ordinance, and it was decided that the 32 language of the current ordinance provides enough information and guidelines, and would not be 33 changed at this time.
