City Council Regular Meeting Minutes 3
August 13, 2002
Page 3
Momson stated that the Task Force would be meeting the first Tuesday of every month,
beginning with September 3, 2002.
Momson stated that there would be a tour of the Fire Station and the Public Works
building, as well as a few other Fire Stations and Public Works buildings in other areas,
on September 28, 2002 from 9:00 a.m. to noon in order for them to gain a flavor of how
St. Anthony Village is compared to other communities.
Mornson stated that the Task Force will be reviewing the options to consider after the
tour at the October 1, 15 and November 5, 2002 meetings.
Mornson indicated that they would be discussing how to finance the options at the
November 5, 2002 meeting, with Jim Prosser, Ehlers and Associates. They plan to select
an option at the December 3, 2002 meeting.
Mornson stated that the final meeting of the Task Force is scheduled for January 7, 2002
where they will review the final option.
Morrison stated that the Task Force would present the option to the Council at the
January 14, 2002 City Council meeting.
Mornson stated that, once the option gets to the Council, they plan to conduct a series of
open houses.
Councilmember Thuesen stated that he felt it was great to have such a large number of
members on the Task Force, but cautioned that they be careful to all contribute, and not
allow one or two persons to dominate the meetings.
Councilmember Faust'stated that the members of the Task Force are going to have
varying opinions on the project and that they need to understand that they are not going to
agree on every issue, but need to discern what is best for the community.
Councilmember Horst suggested that a City Councilmember be present to observe the
Task Force meetings. Councilmember Sparks stated that she felt that City Council
presence would have an influence over the process, and was not a good idea.
Councilmember Thuesen stated that a councilmember could provide the Task Force with
some information and clarification that they may not otherwise have.
Mayor Hodson stated that City Council presence was a beneficial idea.
Councilmember Faust and Thuesen both indicated that they felt that City Council
presence at the Task Force meetings was a good idea.
Councilmember Horst suggested that they have two councilmembers at the Task Force
meetings. He added that he was uncomfortable turning the entire project over to the
community, when the City Council has to make the ultimate decision.
