Resolution 03-067, re: Award bid for contract for construction of the Public Works <br /> 7 facility, and Resolution 03-068, re: Award bid for contract for construction of the Fire <br /> 8 Station facility. <br /> 9 Jon Kuenstling, Kraus-Anderson Construction Company, addressed Council concerning the <br /> 10 contract awards for the Public Works facility that was bid on Thursday, August 14, 2003. He <br /> 11 recommended, based on current information, awarding Bid Division 1 contract to F. M. <br /> 12 Frattalone Excavating in the amount of$125,592; Bid Division 2 contract to Nova-Frost, Inc., in <br /> 13 the amount of$32,800; Bid Division 3 to Bituminous Roadways, Inc., in the amount of$87,160; <br /> 14 Bid Division 4 to Gresser Companies, Inc., in the amount of$114,100; Bid Divisions 5 and 6 to <br /> 15 Fabcon, Inc., in the amount of$246,360; Bid Division 7 to Thurnbeck Steel Fabrication, Inc., in <br /> 16 the amount of$60,720. He noted the total bid amount for Bid Division Nos. 1 through 7 was <br /> 17 $666,732 and the budgeted amount was $744,404 for a difference of$77,672. <br /> 18 <br /> 19 Mr. Kuenstling stated the contract awards for the Fire Station facility was bid on Tuesday, <br /> 20 August 12, 2003. He recommended, based on current information, awarding Bid Division 1 <br /> 21 contract to Belair Excavating in the amount of$143,645; Bid Division 2 contract to Nova-Frost, <br /> 22 Inc., in the amount of$29,700; Bid Division 3 to Bituminous Roadways, Inc., in the amount of <br /> 23 $25,900; Bid Division 4 to Gresser Companies, Inc., in the amount of$68,700; Bid Division 5 to <br /> 24 Thurnbeck Steel Fabrication, Inc., in the amount of$52,662. He noted the total bid amount for <br /> 25 Bid Division Nos. 1 through 5 was $320,607 and the budgeted amount was $322,000 for a <br /> 26 difference of$1,393. <br /> 27 <br /> 28 Councilmember Faust asked Mr. Kuenstling if he had previously worked with these contractors. <br /> 29 Mr. Kuenstling responded he had and was pleased with the group put.together. He noted these <br /> 30 contractors had histories of meeting schedules. <br /> 31 <br /> 32 Councilmember Horst asked if this was the entire construction cost. Mr. Kuenstling responded <br /> 33 this was only the first"go-around, as this represented getting the materials, footings and <br /> 34 foundations ready. He noted the architect was still developing the plan, which should be out <br /> 35 within the next week. He added Kraus-Anderson was currently bidding the site and ordering the <br /> 36 items that had long lead-times. Mr. Kuenstling indicated Kraus-Anderson would bid out the <br /> 37 Public Works facility on September 23, 2003, and the Fire Station facility on September 25, <br /> 38 2003. <br /> 39 <br /> 40 Motion by Councilmember Horst to adopt Resolution 03-067 awarding a contract relating to the <br /> 41 Public Works construction project as recommended by Kraus-Anderson Construction Company. <br /> 42 <br /> 43 Motion carried unanimously. <br /> 44 <br /> 45 Motion by Councilmember Horst to adopt Resolution 03-068 awarding a contract relating to the <br /> 46 Fire Station construction project as recommended by Kraus-Anderson Construction Company. <br /> 47 <br />
