City Council Regular Meeting Minutes 7 7 <br /> June 22, 2004 <br /> Page 11 <br /> 1 City Manager Mornson indicated the resolution is one of the steps necessary in securing the <br /> 2 $750,000 in Federal Funds for improvements within the Northwest Quadrant. <br /> 3 <br /> 4 Councilmember Horst inquired as to whether this was the first step in the process. Mayor <br /> 5 Hodson noted that it was step one and two of twelve. <br /> 6 <br /> 7 City Manager Mornson indicated that the majority of the steps to follow would be addressed by <br /> 8 the Staff and not brought to the Council. <br /> 9 <br /> 10 Motion by Councilmember Horst, seconded by Councilmember Stille,Adopting Resolution 04- <br /> 11 051, Designating MN/DOT as the City's Agent in Accepting Federal Aid Funds. <br /> 12 <br /> 13 Motion carried unanimously. <br /> 14 <br /> 15 VII. REPORTS FOR CITY MANAGER AND COUNCILMEMBERS. <br /> 16 City Manager Mornson updated the Council on the following items: <br /> 17 1. Progress is being made on 2004 street project. The utilities are in that the roads <br /> 18 are ready for pavement. <br /> 19 2. The 2003 second of two street projects has been completed on 341'Avenue. The <br /> 20 public is encouraged to check out the finished product. <br /> 21 3. The footings have been poured for the second liquor store. <br /> 22 4. The closure of three public properties will take place over the next week. The <br /> 23 Public Works Open House and the Open House for new liquor store, in the re- <br /> 24 developed Stonehouse property, will take place on Thursday, June 24, 2004 from <br /> 25 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. with a 5:30 p.m. presentation by the Mayor. The Central Park <br /> 26 re-development dedication will take place Tuesday, June 28, 2004. <br /> 27 <br /> 28 Councilmember Horst thanked the design team for presenting their plans for the Silver Lake <br /> 29 Development, noting that it is an"astonishing"accomplishment. <br /> 30 <br /> 31 Councilmember Thuesen noted that over his past seven years on the Council the City has faced <br /> 32 issues such as flooding and having under utilized properties. He continued noting that he was <br /> 33 proud of the current Staff for their hard work and time they have dedicated to make projects like <br /> 34 the Silver Lake Development happen. <br /> 35 <br /> 36 Councilmember Faust stated that he recently had the opportunity to drive to the east coast and <br /> 37 back. He noted that communities that pay attention to the small details stand out. He stated that <br /> 38 he is proud to be from St. Anthony, adding it is a desirable place to live and has a lot of positive <br /> 39 changes to come. <br /> 40 <br /> 41 Mayor Hodson cited recent commendations he received regarding the Police Department and the <br /> 42 "outstanding" service they provide to the community. He indicated that he recently attended 45 <br /> 43 graduation open houses, noting the comments he received from the residents regarding the re- <br /> 44 development were positive. He continued stating that not all residents were in agreement with <br /> 45 everything that was being planned, however, in looking at the "big picture" they are "pleased." <br /> 46 <br />
