City Council Regular Meeting Minutes 16 <br /> September 14, 2004 <br /> Page 16 <br /> 1 <br /> 2 Councilmember Horst reported his attendance at the Community Services Board Meeting <br /> 3 regarding educational funding. He also announced for the public the Candidate Forum on <br /> 4 October 18, 2004 from 6:30 to 9:00 in which there will be contested offices for the State <br /> 5 Representative. <br /> 6 <br /> 7 Councilmember Stille reported his attendance at the August 18, 2004 Ground.Breaking <br /> 8 Ceremony of the Environmental Engineers, located east on County Road C. He stated that the <br /> 9 Manager had indicated their need to relocate due to growth, however, due to their contentment <br /> 10 and the convenience of their current location they decided to expand their current site instead. <br /> 11 <br /> 12 Councilmember Faust reported his attendance of the AMM meeting on August 17, 2004, as well <br /> 13 as his attendance at the Environmental Engineers Ground Breaking Ceremony with <br /> 14 Councilmember Stille. He noted that the address of their location is 4829 Anthony Lane. He <br /> 15 added that they have doubled their size, and have included banquet facilities that will be <br /> 16 available for the public to rent for activities such as a wedding or a graduation. <br /> 17 <br /> 18 Councilmember Faust continued in reporting his attendance of the Council meeting with the <br /> 19 School Board on August 31, and his attendance of the Mississippi Middle Management meeting. <br /> 20 <br /> 21 Councilmember Faust concluded in noting that residents of St. Anthony will have the <br /> 22 opportunity to address their concerns with the Mayor position at a State and local levels. He <br /> 23 added that the City of Anoka has inquired about the developments being made at Silver Lake <br /> 24 Village, indicating that they have similar areas in which they are interested in doing something <br /> 25 similar. <br /> 26 <br /> 27 Mayor Pro-tem Thuesen reported his attendance at the Council meeting with the School District <br /> 28 as well. He expressed the importance of working together and maintaining communications. <br /> 29 <br /> 30 VIII. COMMUNITY FORUM. <br /> 31 A resident approached the Council to inquire with regard to the election process for the Mayor's <br /> 32 position. City Attorney Gilligan clarified the process. <br /> 33 <br /> 34 Dave Halstengard, President of the Sports Boosters, addressed the Council in noting the <br /> 35 "fantastic"park that has been lit to allow games to be held in St. Anthony. He stated that the <br /> 36 hard work that the City Staff and Council have done means a lot. He stated that the kids within <br /> 37 the community are the ones who are benefiting, noting recent accomplishments of both sixth and <br /> 38 ninth grade leagues. He indicated that the accomplishments would not have been made possible <br /> 39 without Council making it possible for young athletes in the community to be competitive and as <br /> 40 good as any other City. <br /> 41 <br /> 42 IX., INFORMATION AND ANNOUNCEMENTS. <br /> 43 Councilmember Faust announced an upcoming event at Chandler with Audi Tarpley, the Project <br /> 44 Manager of the Silver Lake Village Development, presenting. He noted that reservations are <br /> 45 required and encouraged public to attend. <br /> 46 <br />
