Ordinance Relating to Special Election to Fill Vacancy. <br /> 5 City Attorney Gilligan presented the ordinance for consideration. <br /> 6 <br /> 7 Discussion: <br /> 8 There was discussion with regard to being able to amend the ordinance. It was determined that <br /> 9 this ordinance is specific to this situation. <br /> 10 <br /> 11 Councilmember Faust inquired as to if the passing of this ordinance would pose an <br /> 12 encumbrance on future a Council to rescind the ordinance. He was assured that it would not. <br /> 13 <br /> 14 There was discussion with regard to the wording of the ordinance.being in compliance with the <br /> 15 law. It was determined that it was. <br /> 16 <br /> 17 Motion by Councilmember Faust, seconded by Councilmember Horst to approve Ordinance <br /> 18 04-006 Relating to Special Election to Fill the Office of Mayor. <br /> 19 <br /> 20 Friendly Amendment by Councilmember Horst to waive the second and third readings. <br /> 21 <br /> 22 Motion carried unanimously. <br /> 23 2. Resolution Calling a Special Election for Mayor. <br /> 24 City Attorney Gilligan presented the resolution for consideration. <br /> 25 <br /> 26 Discussion: <br /> 27 Mayor Pro-tem Thuesen noted the difficult process in moving forward with City business and <br /> 28 in being respectful of the Hodson family due to Randy's tragic death <br /> 29 <br /> 30 Motion by Councilmember Horst, seconded by Councilmember Faust to adopt Resolution 04- <br /> 31 062 Calling a Special Election for Mayor on December 14, 2004. <br /> 32 <br /> 33 Motion carried unanimously. <br /> 34 <br /> 35 VII. REPORTS FROM CITY MANAGER AND COUNCILMEMBERS. <br /> 36 City Manager Morrison reported the following: <br /> 37 1. The grand opening for the liquor store will be October 14, 2004 from 4:00 to 8:00 <br /> 38 p.m. The liquor store will be open to the public on September 24, 2004. <br /> 39 2. There will be an open house on October 14, 2004 at the fire station from 4:00 to <br /> 40 8:00 p.m. A short program will take place at 6:30 p.m. <br /> 41 3. At the September 28, 2004 meeting there will be a presentation on FEMA <br /> 42 requiring the City's adoption of flood insurance. <br /> 43 <br /> 44 Councilmember Stille inquired as to when the Apache Plaza sign will be coming down. He was <br /> 45 assured that it should take place the week of September 20, 2004. <br />
