-3- <br /> Councilman Marks reported the Augustana group who intend to apply for <br /> 202 funding for the senior housing in Phase 2 of the Kenzie Terrace <br /> Redevelopment Project had asked during their meeting with City of- <br /> ficials the previous day whether the funds proposed to be allocated for <br /> the rehabilitation of low income/single family residences could be •used <br /> instead as a down payment but had been told these funds ,could only be <br /> used towards the acquisition of land for the project. <br /> Mr. Bjorklund read the two motions from the minutes of the Planning <br /> Commission' s March 15th meeting which supported the staff recommenda- <br /> tions for allocating Year IX funds and reallocating Years VI , VII , <br /> and VIII funds in such a manner that they could be retained by the City. <br /> No further public input forthcoming, the hearing was closed- at 8: 4.5 P.M. <br /> Motion by Councilman Marks and seconded by Councilman Letourneau to <br /> follow the Planning Commission recommendations to allocate the City' s <br /> Year IX Urban Hennepin County Community Development Block 'Grant funds <br /> for the following activities : <br /> Rehabilitation of Single Family Homes $40 ,000 <br /> Public'Services-Senior Citizens Programs 4 ,656 <br /> Administration 1 ,904 <br /> $46 , 560 <br /> The Council finds , as did the Commission, that these activities are <br /> cons is tent---with -past--uses -of-these—funds -arid •-would-appear-to meet all <br /> the criteria set for such activities by the Housing and Urban Develop- <br /> ment Agency and Hennepin County, and further agreeing that there had <br /> been adequate notice and public input related to the selection of the <br /> activities to be funded. <br /> Motion carried unanimously . <br /> Motion by Councilman Marks -and seconded by Councilman Enrooth to <br /> follow the- recommendations of the Planning Commission and staff for <br /> reallocating the City ' s Years VI , VII , and VIII Urban Hennepin <br /> County Community Development Block Grant funds as follows : <br /> Year VI Kenzie Terrace Study $16 ,679 <br /> Year VII Site Acqusition/Assisted Housing 40 ,000 <br /> Year VII Administration 1 ,000 <br /> Year VII Removal of Architectural Barriers 7 ,000 <br /> Year VII Rehabilitation of Single Family Homes 18, 385 <br /> Year VII Public Services-Senior Programs 2 , 091 <br /> Year VIII Assistance to Low and Moderate Income 15 ,000 <br /> Housing; Street Improvements <br /> Year VIII Right-of--:Way Acquisition-Sidewalks 21 , 128 <br /> Year VIII Rehabilitation of Single Family Homes 30, 773 <br /> -Yea-r• V-I-I-I --Publ-ic••Services-Latch Key Program 2 ,460 <br /> Year VIII Public Services-Senior Program 2 , 640 <br /> • Year VIII Administration 1 ,540 <br /> :J <br />
