-4-
Before ordering the May Fire Department Report filed, Councilman
Ranallo noted that the department had spent almost 10 , hours responding •
to medical emergencies as compared to only a little over an hour on
fires . Mayor Sundland suggested that some of the disparity could be
accounted for by the .fact that the community is aging and there have
been excellent fire safety educational programs fostered by the Fire
Department.
Also accepted as informational were the April Financial Summary, the
May Liquor Operations Summary and the minutes of the Chemical Abuse
Information Committee meeting May 10th.
An in depth .report from Public Works Director Hamer on the collapse
and repair of the sanitary sewer in front of the high school had been
included the the agenda packet. The Council consensus was that the
decision to only black top the road because of the possibility of
settling, had been a prudent one . Mrs . Makowske reported she had
picked up several warning signs on the construction site which had
blown over with the high winds experienced that day.
The June 7th staff meeting notes were noted and ordered filed.
Motion by Councilman Marks and seconded by Councilman Enrooth to accept
the City Manager' s recommendation that staff should request the Hennepin
County ' Commissioners to reconsider in this time of- tight budgets , their
requirement that the City buy new radio equipment from the County to
replace the radios presently used by the Police Department , since , even
though all radios in the system might not be brand new, or the same
color, by permitting the City to buy the equipment they have now, the
St. Anthony system would continue to be functional and could be updated,
as needed by the City, over a period of years .
Motion carried unanimously .
Mr. Childs reminded the Council members that a public hearing to
consider the Metropolitan Pollution Control Agency ' s study of the City
water system is scheduled to be held during the Council ' s June 28th
meeting.
At 8 : 35 P .M. , the Mayor opened the public hearing on the City ' s proposal
to amend its Year VII Urban Hennepin County Community Development Block
Grant planning allocation to reflect a $3, 541 modification in that
allocation suggested by the auditors by which the City could be re-
imbursed for previously paid expenditures .
There was no one present to object to the amendment, or to provide
input into the discussion, and the hearing was closed at 8 : 37 P .M.
Motion by ' Councilman Ranallo and seconded by Councilman Enrooth to
approve the $3, 541 modification of the CDBG planning allocation for
Year VII , as presented.
Motion carried unanimously.
