Subd. 7. Freestanding Signs. Freestanding signs for garage sales or similar <br /> events occurring within the corporate limits of the City, not exceeding 4 <br /> square feet in sign surface area, erected on private property with permission <br /> of the land owner, and displayed for not more than 3 consecutive days. <br /> Subd. 8. Window Signs. Temporary or permanent window signs duly <br /> authorized by zoning and other laws of this City, provided that all such signs <br /> on a frontage shall not have a total sign surface area greater than 50% of the <br /> glass area, excluding doors, on such frontage and provided that a minimum <br /> of one-half of the open window space must be below a horizontal line which <br /> is 5 feet above the interior floor of the commercial establishment. . <br /> Merchandise displays in windows shall not be considered as part of the sign <br /> area if such display is not intended to be continued for a period of more than <br /> 8 weeks. <br /> Subd. 9. On-Site Temporary Subdivision Signs. CIne on-site temporary sign <br /> advertising a group of lots for sale within a subdivision or group of houses <br /> for sale within a housing project, provided that the total area of such sign <br /> shall not exceed 64 square feet with no single dimension in excess of 16 feet. <br /> The display of such sign shall be limited to a 6-month period. At the <br /> expiration of such period, the applicant may request a further extension of <br /> • time, otherwise the sign must be removed. <br /> Subd. 10. Temporary Signs, other than Political Signs. Temporary signs, <br /> other than political signs, pertaining to drives or events of civic, <br /> philanthropic,-educational- or religious organizations,_provided permission of <br /> the Council must be obtained to erect such signs upon or over public property- <br /> and provided further that such signs shall not be erected or posted for a <br /> period of more than 14 days prior to the date of the event and must be <br /> removed within 3 days after the event. <br /> Subd. 11. Flags and Emblems. Flags and emblems of political, civic, <br /> philanthropic, educational or religious organizations. <br /> Subd. 12. Real Estate Signs. Real estate signs, provided the combined sign <br /> surface area of such is not greater than 6 square feet. Real estate signs must be <br /> removed within 7 days after the closing date. <br /> Subd. 13. Signs Affixed on Benches at Public Bus Stops. <br /> 14-8 <br />
