STAFF REPORT
DATE: April 13, 1993
TO: Planning Commission
FRO1%1: David Mark Urbia, Management Assistant
ITEM: INFORAZATIONAL SIGNS
BACKGROUND
The Planning Commission has requested from the Zoning Administrator a definition of
information signs.
The Zoning Administrator believes the City Council has provided direction regarding these types
of signs. The direction provided from the City Council is to allow them, as this will be helpful
to the business community.
The term informational signs was created by staff to attempt to sum up the types of undefined
• signage that is in place in the community (i.e. fast food drive-thru menus, car wash info, credit
cards accepted signs). The number of signs that exist in the City that do not have a definition
or are not prohibited is small and are not, in the Council's opinion, a significant impact on the
aesthetics of the City.
The Planning Commission may attempt to define these signs and present proposed ordinance
language to the City Council for consideration.
•
