City Council Regular Meeting Minutes <br /> November 26, 1996 <br /> Page 5 <br /> I Saturday to discuss the issues and opportunities for the school district. These were informative <br /> 2 and thought-provoking meetings. <br /> 3 Faust reported he and City Manager had attended the League of Minnesota Cities Policy and <br /> 4 Adoption Conference for upcoming legislative policies. He stated he had a copy of the report <br /> 5 that any interested Councilmembers could read. <br /> 6 Marks reported he had attended the Antique Show at Apache Plaza which had great attendance. <br /> 7 Marks reported he had attended the St. Anthony Orchestra Board meeting last Thursday. He had <br /> 8 also attended the School in the 2 1 st Century meeting. Marks noted he is on the Education <br /> 9 Committee for the Healthy Community/Healthy Youth. He stated he also felt the organization <br /> 10 was moving ahead. <br /> I I Enrooth reported his attendance at a meeting of the AMM regarding the future of cities. He <br /> 12 reported part of the Metropolitan Council's discussion was the increase of three quarter million <br /> 13 people by the year 2010 in the metropolitan area and the impact to the infrastructure. He stated <br /> 14 he felt this was an important issue. <br /> 15 <br /> 16 C. Mayor. <br /> 17 Mayor Ranallo reported he had visited the'l st graders at Wilshire Park. He noted the children <br /> 18 are well informed about the fire department and the police department. The children are also <br /> 19 involved with visiting the residents of the nursing,home. <br /> 20 Mayor Ranallo reported he had received a call from Mark Stenglien, the new Hennepin County <br /> 21 Commissioner. He stated he would like to meet with the Mayor and set up a schedule to attend <br /> 22 Council meetings and answer questions that may arise. Mr. Stenglien also asked what Hennepin <br /> 23 County could do for the City of St. Anthony. Mayor Ranallo reported he had-mentioned that the <br /> 24 Hennepin County Sheriffs department could help the City with their police work. <br /> 25 D. Cily Manager. <br /> 26 City Manager Mornson reported he felt the four major issues for this legislative session resulting <br /> 27 from the League of Minnesota Cities Policy and Adoption Conference are telecommunications, <br /> 28 property tax,tax increment financing, and transportation legislation. <br /> 29 Mornson reported Ramsey County will be holding a public meeting in regard to the 37th Avenue <br /> 30 Bridge Project at Apache Plaza on Tuesday, December 3, 1996 from 6:00 to 7:30 P.M. Ramsey <br /> 31 County will present a rendering of Silver Lake Road as it currently exists and ask the residents' <br /> 32 what they would like to see done. Mornson explained several options and the costs. He <br /> 33 explained Option 1 - Base,would be MnDOT Standard and include ornamental metal railing. <br /> 34 This Option would cost $43,000, all of which would be paid with federal funding. Option 2 - <br /> 35 Intermediate 1, would include custom ornamental-railing and decorative lighting and would cost <br /> 36 $63,680. Federal fimds in the amount of$43,000 would still be utilized but the City of St. <br />
